Default Error engine code P0430

Hey folks,

My 07 XKR has just 65000 km. So I am surprised that the error code P0430 keeps getting thrown. Am I right in assuming I need a new catalytic converter for Bank 2 (RHS)?

If so, I may as well take the opportunity to go hi-flow, that is if I will pass the mandatory emissions test that I have just failed...

Thanks.

:-( Thanks for the disappointing reading.
OK, I'll try the cheap fixes first:

1. replace air intake filters. (Just done 10000 km ago.)
2. Run some fuel injector cleaner
3. and an O2 sensor.

Hope I haven't missed anything... I have had to replace a CC before... a fouled coil was the culprit. But I don't see that issue this time.
Wish me luck.

Hi, I was hoping maybe someone here could offer a few ideas for me and my mechanic. I have a P0430 code that won't go away. I originally had multiple misfire codes along with P0420 and P0430 codes after replacing the upper and lower intake gaskets all except the P0420 and P0430 codes went away so I replaced the cats with oem direct fit converters. The P0420 code went away but the P0430 code remained. So the Oxygen Sensors were replaced that corresponded to the P0430 code. Still can't shake the P0430 code. Ideas?

Thanks

Guy, i would say your cat is gone, mine threw up the same code, with maf sensor code as well a few months ago, cost me 1000 euros to fix and i still have the sensor code after 2 new sensors and filters. My car went into limp mode one day and then codes, even the exhaust note changed, get it sort right away if you can, same side bank 2. I had a thread somewhere on it if you want to find.

Hello All

This is my first post so I hope I’m in the right place.

I bought a 2008 XKR Convertible in the summer. It has just 34000 miles and seems to be running really well. After I refuelled the car for the first time I got a check engine light which revealed a P0430 code. The mechanic told me it was nothing to worry about and cleared the code.

I’ve now had the car about 5 months and have driven under 1000 miles and the error keeps coming back.

Is it likely to be a problem with the cats something else like O2 sensors. The car is going in for a service next so I would like a bit of advance knowledge before I talk to the mechanic.

Many thanks.

If you bought from a trader/garage you still have time to require it to be fixed but that runs out after 6 months and it's then more hassle. hmm, since the fault was apparent within the 6 months you should be OK.

It should NOT flag errors and clearing is no fix whatever.

It can be a failing catalytic converter (hope not, as they are very expensive) so I would take it back ASAP (if you bought privately the same law does not apply).

On my 07 same thing happened to mine . Eventually clearing did no good. Changed the catalytic and went away and all good. I kept the old cat and put a scope in side the O2 port and saw the problem. You have like an insulation that holds the honeycomb cat material in place and it had came loose and was blocking air flow in front of the honeycomb. Wish I had known this as I would have cut to cat open and fixed it.

There is a shop near me that repairs your old cats. They cut them open, replace the media and weld it back up. Quote I got like six years ago was near $400.
