Hi, I am new to this forum so I apologise if this has been asked before but.... In the diagrams I have seen to do the XKR to XKR-S exhaust modification it just shows the original internal pipes being cut off and removed yet in this photo they have been cut and rejoined much shorter, what is the reason for that?
ok! just to be sure..
First picutre --> XKR
Second picture --> XKR-S / PAE
Hi, I just made 2000 miles to buy i think the wrong silencer... whats the difference between the 2 ? Someone say the external tube (where is the valve) have bigger diameter ?
The pipes inside the R-S box are slightly different, one section is removed to make it just a bit more free-flow. The center resonators are removed and replaced with an X pipe, but that's not inside the box. I don't know about a diameter difference.
There are several photos posted in this forum, but I have no idea which thread. You could try different terms in the SEARCH function.
Before Modifying ! After modification Close up Completed
There you go ! Modifying XKR to XKR-S
‘THEN FIT an X pipe rearward in front of rear axle.
‘hope this help you.
With exhaust valve opens it nearly all bypasses silencer / when closed 2 outer pipes are closed off with butterfly valves the S dost have any extra pipe ! Just routed different inside silencer. Also has X pipe to rear of car not the front to give it the distinctive sound.
Ended up with 592 BHP.
Remap / ported supercharger & polished/ 10% pulley/platinum plugs/hi flow air filters/cleaned airmass meters & Bosch hi flow water pump for charge cooler.
XKR’s struggle on rolling roads as they suffer very quickly with heat soak.
@Grimreaper your car looks and sounds fantastic, I'm ordering the RPM Motorworks x-pipe for mine to wake the exhaust up a bit while keeping the OEM active backbox in place.
