Faint beep/chirp after locking?
Hi
I've got a faint beep or chirp after locking/double locking the car. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not, only ever started happening this week.
I'm in Europe so we don't have the usual locking chirp enabled like in the US.
What might that be? Infamous aux alarm sounder battery on its way out?
Here's a vid, volume has to be cranked up but definitely audible.

Is that on one or two presses of the remote?
It sounds like it MAY be a physical 'click' or something also and not necessarily an electronic chirp.
Have you disabled the mirror fold and tried again?

While waiting for that info, so far it would seem that your 'sounder' has about failed. It's a fairly common problem and not super problematic nor expensive to replace. There are threads in here about doing exactly that.
The results of testing are:
- as expected, no difference between using key vs door button
- 1 press - consistently no sound
- 2 press w/ mirror fold disabled - no sound 100% of the tries
- 2 press w/ mirror fold enabled - sometimes sound
Logic would direct me towards indeed the sound being caused by the mirrors folding and some plastic acting similar to a guitar string. Good ear @Cee Jay !
Especially that the sound is more likely to occur after locking after a drive - if I try to reproduce the sound without starting the car, most of the time it doesn't occur.
I was mentally ready for the secondary alarm sounder disassembly and disconnection but I absorbed all the other threads and at no point do I have the symptom of "geiger counter" sound.
Assume it's safe to write it off as part of the car's soul and live with it?

I'd probably prefer no sound as it doesn't affect the locking in the US. I don't know if Poland has the actual Double-Lock where even the inside mechanisms are disabled, but I'd find that problematic at best.
I use the sounder to verify that the lock happened, but with folding mirrors it's pretty obvious anyway.
One thing though, what happens if someone opens your car without the key? That sounder I do believe is also the alarm sound.

I would say the sounder is dead or almost dead - I had no chirp noise on my car but after installing a sounder from a new Jag XF or such now it makes a chirp each time after locking it - when fitting the sounder I found out the old one was disconnected -- battery drain
After fitting the sounder on mine I sat into the car and waited for the intrusion sensors to kick off and the alarm sounded - just checking it worked - also if you jack the car up the alarm and horn sounds

the sounder in question is the auxiliary/backup one. I understand it will be a fallback if someone breaks into the car while battery is flat. It's why it has the battery who's age is the source of all related problems.

Thanks for the vid. Your chirp seems to be something else - it occurs much earlier, in the middle of the mirror fold sequence, immediately after the lock sound.
My "new" sound is only heard ~300-500ms after mirrors are done folding. Also never happens if I double lock without the mirror fold (after disabling in settings).
All the threads outline how to get to the sounder with intention of disassemblying it - do you maybe know if it can just be disconnected (or at least checked whether it is or is not connected) without having to disassemble the pedestrian airbag bracket?
