Also weren't you aware that American's do sarcasm extremely badly, we Brits have had longer to perfect the art, plus can do it with a kewl 'accent'

My wife didn’t know there were wires in the walls to get electricity to the outlets.
I spent my youth taking things apart, so yeah, I’d take the switch apart to try to fix it. Some folks won’t. Kind of like the folks that won’t eat leftovers, its always got to be new.

Maybe I'm thin-skinned but threads like this get me nerved up. CaptainQ was simply asking for help in understanding whether the behavior of the buttons was OEM-spec or a problem. And he was offered some good information. But some posts seem to tend toward sarcasm. It's sometimes hard to discern the intent behind a post - emoticons help but don't completely reveal the poster's intent.
If we had the knowledge of all the veteran members on this forum, we wouldn't have to ask questions here. The fact that we don't - and are asking for the wisdom of those more experienced - should be met with fair answers, not snark.
If I am wrong, please let me know. I strive to make my mistakes clearly so that I may be better corrected.

Holee shitballs, dude. Yes, you are wrong. WAY wrong. Well, at least with my comment of 'it was built, you can fix it'. Most people don't have the adeptness to take a switch apart and fix the very minor thing wrong with it, but it is actually quite easy. Everything was built. Nearly everything can be fixed.
So, yeah, maybe you should thicken up your skin a bit. I posted only to help.

Bill was just saying a variation of 'there are no stupid questions' and commenting that the OP asked a reasonable question and received some useful responses, in contrast to some responses which were merely sarcasm disguised as help. Nothing directed at you at all as far as I can see.

Good Morning Everyone,
Oh dear I seem to have caused a bit of an upset here - sorry all ! I've now discovered that whilst my original 'Dynamic' button was faulty the one on the replacement unit works fine - provided I keep the button pressed momentarily. Having looked at the original Drivers Handbook (2010 model) the only section that refers to holding the button for a short while is the DSC button - no mention in the Dynamic, ASL or Winter mode sections - it may be that Jaguar Cars
changed the text in later books. Thank you everyone for your input and suggestions - this Forum is invaluable in so many ways (what on earth did we do before the internet - aside from getting ripped off by ***********s ?)

CaptainQ, you did nothing but ask a fair question. I was the one that led the thread into dark territory by commenting on how some responses were phrased. In hindsight, not the best thing to do. Must constantly remind myself that the only attitude I can change is my own.
