Default Feedback on my first x150 test drive.

Ok so drove 150 miles to test a 2015 xk Dynamic R with 20k miles on it

The car at a main dealer was dirty with swirl marks all over, the exhaust tips were filthy, the interior dusty with sweet wrappers and two of the tyres had damaged sidewalls.

The nav disc was 2009 (either previous owner or dealer had removed the dealership had removed the original)

I actually had an appointment made 2 days prior...so no excuse.😖

initial observations:

1) cramped and dark compared to my old x100
2) no footrest for the non pedal foot
3) hard to get used to the technology
4) previous driver had left it in dynamic mode...which was...errr fun and scarey!

Now am a mere 5'6" and 160lb, so am wondering how bigger drivers cope.

Am probably going to 'downgrade' (?) my requirements now to an xk portfolio or artisan as don't need the raw power of a supercharger.

Shame though 😔

1. I'm 6'1". I'm very comfortable inside the XK
2. You can buy a dummy pedal
3. You get used to it once you go thru it a bit, I barely use the bells and whistles offered. Just the dynamic mode button.
4. Dynamic mode is awesome. Also it shut's itself off after 6 hrs of the car being turned off so someone drove it and enabled it right before you apparently.

Ain't nothing wrong with the NA 5.0 XK. I have one, there is plenty of power. Not face melting power like the R but still super fun.

Now a dealer showing you a car in that condition is just plain stupid.

Yep you can imagine probably imagine my reaction when I merely touched the LOUD pedal in London traffic! You (or indeed anyone else) know the part no for the dummy pedal?

As to the condition of the vehicle I've already sent the salesman an email as to why I'll not be buying it, copied it to the sales manager, dealer principal and Jag customer service natch!

A shame but save myself Ł18k getting a 2012 artisan which has memory steering wheel, cooled/heated seats and everything else the XK Dynamic had...but of course not the power

It's not cramped and dark after you put the top down!

Need a footrest? See: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...covers-130873/

MarkyUK,
I have both an X100 XKR and an X150XKR, love both, am 6'-2" and fit comfortably in either. BUT, there simply is no comparison in the driving characteristic of the two. My 2002 XKR 'vert, even with brand new shocks, springs, tires, etc. (fresh from a nearly complete restoration), still bobs and shakes like a bowl of Jello over any kind of dip, bump, hump, or irregular road surface. My X150 is solid as a rock, handles tighter, stops better, accelerates faster, does everything better than the X100 except turn heads as often. My X100 is gorgeous which is why I put the time, effort, and money in bringing it back to near new. I also love the top down driving that still allows you the use of the cavernous trunk for two sets of golf clubs (easily). But as for the driving experience, I can barely stand it after getting out of my X150, so I look for reasons not to drive it. And reliability? Are you kidding?!
NO COMPARISON!

I'm surprised by the cramp and dark part.

Admittedly, I have a Caramel and wood interior and not black.

I think the NA is the sensible choice for UK city traffic conditions. I have used my previous XK8's, 2007 XK and current XK Signature for daily driving and they always get me to the next tailback sufficiently quickly. There just isn't the opportunity to exploit the performance of the SC variants in our traffic congested and "safety" camera infested island.

I'm still a solid 6'6" (used to be 6'7") and 190 lbs and no problem with fitment in the car or getting out of it.

I'm honestly surprised that your turn-offs are easily remediable issues. Sound more like sour grapes versus any problem with the X150. But then if the car doesn't talk to you, don't buy it. Mine had a ton of problems but I still saw the real gem hidden under the flaws.

I've only seen three other X150's since I bought mine, two X100's which to me scream '70's British **** but I digress.

The interior feels so much more spacious in the x150 than the x100. I love my 70s British **** x100 but the x150 is clearly meant to outdo what came before. The handling, brakes, power and reliability are meant to be better and they are.

The comment about the interior space seems objectively incorrect. The more space was a huge plus. I'm a tall lady at 5'10" but most of my family as well my friends are tall. Headroom and ease of ingress are leagues better in the x150.

Agreed. While I 'fit' fine in my XK8, I found it annoying to always look out the top 30% of the windscreen. First in line at a stop light and I always had to duck my head to see the lights. Not so in my X150!

You say that like it's a bad thing??

Takes me back to my youth....sigh!

Whilst you say easily remedied issues they would have been at my cost, and, whilst my 96 XK was a labour of love (?) as was my DB7, Scimitar and MGC before, I really am (as stated by Roger Murtaugh) getting too old for this @~#t Most certainly not when I'm spending Ł46k/$59k for the privilege

Not sour grapes as will still be getting an X150 just not from that dealership and probs not an SC'd one

1: Intimate and personal.
2: True, and...
3: If you mean why for Heavens' sake does the navigation voice not have a proper English accent, I totally agree. If not, what technology? Are you a Luddite?
4: Yes, and.............
Just consider your articulation of defeat..."downgrade"..good god man, life is mercilessly too short for one to voluntarily downgrade. I am slightly larger than yourself,
but perhaps only in physical structure, as you have thought this through void of the animalistic urges which drove my decision-making process, you are a better man,
if not slightly shorter and a stone or two lighter, but more reasoned and well into the stages of maturity lesser men only dream of late at night, alone in the dark.
Take this bull (yes, yes, more appropriate on a Lamborghini forum) by the horns and make this beast your own.

cheers

By technology I mean such things as 'Dynamic mode' If you know what RTFM means then totally my fault, now am looking at this:

So if the police are playing 'snooker' no one wants to pot the white ball.

Never considered white but the only other colour (?) that will go with my purchased XKRS-GT alloys

Test drive and collect, hopefully 1st Oct

A quick question, should a car with black pack have black SC bonnet grills?

I'm fairly certain it doesn't make the SC hood grills black.

I do remember using the configurator and came up with white with black pack.

But that was largely due to the configurator making Indigo look dull.

If you want it that way, they could probably be wrapped.

I went from a 2001 XK8 to a 2004 XKR, which was a decent upgrade. But when I test-drove a very low milage 2010 XKR upgrading from the x100 XKR was a no-brainer - the X150 is far superior in every way. 5 years later I've upgraded to a V8R AWD F-Type which is in another league altogether. Jags are awesome cars.

I know I'm just going to keep my X100 and X308 in addition to my recent X150. These cars eventually have used condom levels of resale, so keep it and enjoy it! I just need to finally build that pole barn I've been debating on building...

I'm still not sure I'm that into the looks of the F Type, but it has been gradually growing on me. By the time you can get a nice F Type R AWD for 20-30k, I'll definitely be giving one a serious look. I think the performance package is definitely awesome.
