Default First month driving impressions

I purchased my 2007 XK 4.2 N/A convertible about a month ago and would like to share some of my driving impressions.

The car drives smooth as silk and has plenty of power but.....now I want an "R". I'd add more but what's the use. Now I have to start saving my nickles.

End of review.

Yes to the //R. I got stuck driving the kids baby Cherokee today and was leaning forward in the seat waiting for it to accelerate.

Aren't you one of the myriad people in here that asked for recommendations and was advised to buy an -R because 'fun'???

I have not been driving my "R" properly - mostly 12-mile surface street commutes - but I am accustomed to the INSANE punch I get when I need it, especially in Sport mode. Every time I drive another car I almost get into an accident. (OF COURSE I have enough room to pass! OF COURSE I can merge ahead of this agro kid in the Lexus!) If you can afford it... bite the bullet and find a way to get into a 5.0 XKR and don't look back.

I too drive the congested streets of Southern California and I know what you're talking about but once I get an open road (like my many trips to Palm Springs) I yearn for more power. A 2010 and up XKR Convertible is just out of the reach of my budget at the moment but come Fall I'll be ready to make a move on a low mileage, rust free beauty. Until then, I'l just settle for dropping the transmission in my 4.2 N/A convertible into Sport and turning off the traction control when I get the urge to blast off.

With traction you are aware that if you hold it down for roughly 10 seconds you'll hear a chime permanently disabling it for that trip

That's the difference between "Trac DSC" and "Trac Off".

(did I get my verbiage correct?)

Only problem is forgetting about it and going sideways around the next corner!
