fixing a wart
Hey Mates......
Off and on, have been seeking a way to cover, replace, paint this "wart" on my shifter plate. At first, was going to cover it with a wrap, but then, the shifter markings would be covered. Then thought, perhaps a tasteful Jag sticker or medallion might solve the problem. Next, was a "dab" of paint, if I could determine the correct shade. Or, if simple enough, replace the unit? But, not sure how much of it comes apart. Anyone know this?
What say youse guys?

Ken,
If you love your baby, have the whole thing chrome plated and laser etched. Very reasonable. Well worth it.
You can take it to a vinyl lettering shop and they will be able to give you a wrap with those letters cut out.

Hmmm, that's a good idea.....the vinyl lettering, that is.
Thanks....

Matching and patching could be a PITA.
I would forgo the lettering if you pain all that is black; it does not have to match what was there. I forget; does the dash also say what gear you are in?

Mine is perfect, but I would be interested in this, any suggestions who can do it?
Any consumer chrome-plating shop can, (think truckin). If you have any trouble, I will put you in touch with my plating guys, who do all the work for Gibson guitars and exotic cars.
Wrap will also be scratch-proof, They have some brushed metals that really look good these days.
The laser engraving can be done by just about any trophy shop these days. Its your opportunity to customize something for yourself.

Another suggestion for the OP is to have an airbrush artist or even a leather/vinyl repair service touch up all of the chips with matching black paint. You could even finish it off with a gloss clear for durability and a touch of flash.
