I spotted an ebay listing for a pair of new C2C25337 OE front brake disks from a Scottish Jaguar Dealer at less than half list price and free delivery. Don't need to replace mine just yet but will have to at the next pad change and this was too good to miss.
The door bell rang this morning and the postman (about twice my size and one third my age) asked where I wanted the parcel he was struggling to hold. After signing for the parcel and lifting it myself, I realised why he's been struggling. These things are an unbelievable weight.
I've changed a lot of discs in my time but none anywhere near as heavy - 25kg. These are the 355mm discs for the 5.0 litre NA model. Owners of the SC with the larger 380mm discs may want to start weight training now.
Yep, I got mine delivered when I was outside and the guy gave me the one box....... dang, it was heavy. I went into the garage and started to close the door when he walked back up the driveway with ANOTHER box, same size. WOO! I thought... they accidentally sent TWO sets!
Uh, no. Only one disk per box.
As sort of caveat, I took my rear disks to my Auto Shop buddy to see if they were thick enough to resurface....... He took one from me and said something like "These off a truck or something??? They are HUGE!".
I weighed my (ATE?) set taken off my XKR today and had my Wortec's fitted and total weight for all 4 was a mere 126lbs.
Just hefted them indoors and (rather @nally) washed them in the kitchen sink before weighing them!
Am unsure how much weight they'd have lost over 46k miles
A good find...so well done
In June (before my XK8's demise) I bought a set of EBC (GD953) gold finished rotors of Ebay as 'new old stock' wait for it £20 including courier delivery!
I sold them last week for £140, cheapest on ebay was £183

Reason: missed a pic
However as I am not buying things specifically to sell and make a profit, nor am I making things to sell for a profit, the advice above doesn't apply. All of my items were bought for use by me and sold as either new/unused or used as appropriate.
In one case I bought a set of manifold covers for my XK8 earlier in the year, the seller sent me a mismatched set (one with VVT hole 99-02 IIRC) When I raised with him he send me the correct part and advised me to keep the wrong one...which I have just sold for £80 in ebay!
Luckily (?) I was married to a district tax inspector for 12yrs, so do know the rules
That reminds me I've got a set of used XKR ATE discs to sell
I was not being serious about any tax liability from occasional small sales on Ebay - just trying to make a joke about what the governments on both sides of the pond have in common. Here's an excellent commentary:
My copy of the new remix of "The White Album" LP delivered Saturday and this reminded me I need to take a listen then make a digital copy for the XK! I always thought "Taxman" easily applied here in the states as well.
