Default Glovebox won't open

Can't get into the glovebox this morning. Tried unlocking it with the metal key blade and it made no difference, the release button just won't push in to release. Tried going into and back out of valet mode, no joy. Any ideas?

Google can be your friend

Looks like you'll have to get a locksmith to drill the lock

Or else you can give it a Glaswegian kiss!?

Tried a 32 ounce ball-peen and a brass drift punch yet? Maybe a few layers of duct tape over the shiny parts first...

No - the car is being traded in next weekend so I want to try not to destroy anything in the process. That said I'm anticipating damage so I've ordered a used, complete glovebox assembly from ebay so once it's here and I'm sure it's in working order I will make forceable entry to the existing one as required.

Where exactly would you suggest applying the drift punch and hammer to? The lock, or somewhere else?

I figured smack directly on the button. SOMETHING will give. Maybe something that would release something.... or at least pop the button out and allow access behind it....
Good call on ordering a replacement beforehand.

I'm in - removed the dash trim panel above the glovebox and yes - the end of the arm which the button operates to release the catch has come away from the arm, something has snapped. Managed to manipulate the arm to release the catch. Left it open and parked the car in the garage, will replace the whole 'box once the new one arrives. Pics to follow.
