Have an issue on my XKR '10. Headlights are always on even when i swith selector to off Now I cant turn off headlights on my car in any way and they go out only when I turn off the ignition
I m not the first owner and dont know how it was before
Any ideas?
Does the signal stalk feel solid without any play? If the mechanicals of the module are worn, the headlights switch can make inadvertent contact and remain on.
You don’t need to check anything, this is a Canada market car. The brake indicator is just an icon. For years now the US has required the word BRAKE instead of or in addition to the icon (I guess our government doesn’t trust us to decipher icons).
See the relevant owners manual page - here is mine (2008 XKR). I also went out and turned my car on and sure enough the word BRAKE appears in addition to the icon. Yours does not, ergo Canadian (or Mexican?) car.

I guess that settles THAT then. A Canada Spec and DRL mandatory.
One big advantage (principally for other drivers) is that Canadian-market Jaguars have ALL exterior lights, front, back and sides illuminated at all times when in gear. Other makes have only front lights on. Panic can be defined as coming at speed up to a pavement-grey Mazda in front of you at 10 pm whose owner has no clue that he/she has no rear lights illuminated. This happens far too often.
Jaguars have all had this system of DRL since the 1990 model year.
Sweden, I think, is also DRL. It would've helped if the OP had provided a LOT more regarding his location as this would confirm if his car's in proper config.

Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland, have the DRL system requirement now, so any one of these might have been the likely original market of this car. Russia? I doubt that the DRL was required, but….
Not entirely accurate. It may depend on the model year. My ‘07 XKR, 04 XJR, ‘13 LR2 and ‘15 LR4 merely have the front lights and not the markers or the rears enabled. Mind you I never use the “Auto” lights setting and I wonder if that’s the catalyst for the difference.

Equally, coming up to a car a night that has the daytime lights on and no rear lights whatsoever.
The word “idiot” comes to mind. I have been known to be harsh in my assessment of idiots…

The lights come on when the car is taken out of P and put in D on the later cars. I do not know if the LR is configured the same way.
