Default Help Alcon Brake replacement options

Help with Alcon Brake replacement . I did a search and it looks like you cant get the OEM rotors anymore. Last discussion thread I found was 2022. I need new front rotors and pads im told. the brakes are squeaking like crazy it's doing my head in. Carfax says the rears were done at 80km ( current 94km) at a Dealership in Van that is high end MCL Motors and they look OEM. I will be calling them tomorrow but guessing if the OEM is available it will be $$. also because our brakes are floating ive been told at slow speeds and turning right especially the brakes squeak which is because they tough even when driving ?.

Anyhow main question is what are people in 2025 doing re replacement and are there crossed drilled options ?

Centric make Alcon rotors - you might have to order from the US.

Autopartsway Canada have a front right by Eurospare - check with Autopartsway US for the front left.

I bought "Alcon" brake pads from Autopartsway Canada a few years ago.

Centric list Lordco as a supplier:

Looking at the pics I think there is "meat" left on the front rotors as the half moon/circles are still visible - have you checked what's left on the pads? I suspect the pads are really down.

appreciate the info. I haven't looked myself just my shop said they need to be changed and that I should do rotors at the same time. the squeeling is insane. i have to get that sorted.
Pads only def will save some money. I'll check those links. otherwise if I wanted to go cross drilled style any recomendation

I concur. I think the shop may be inaccurate.
Resurface the rotors?? And new pads.

Squeaking may be the shims…

The Jag shop in Victoria said new pads and discs required (shops seem to want to do pads and discs). They were surprised when I told 'em I had rotors. I just replaced the pads that were down to about 6-7mm.

Front "Alcon" pads from autopartsway - ship free and fast delivery from Alberta:

https://www.autopartsway.ca/Brake/20...%5D=8+Cyl+4.2L

These are Brembo, the sets I bought for front and back are Textar brand.

With the pads down low you will need a reasonable size C clamp on each piston to get them back in (best to disconnect the brake line).

Gomes, I would check if your rotors will be within specifications after turning and simply have them resurfaced (along with new pads). Take your rotors to a local brake shop and show them these specs. We have a family run brake and alignment shop here in Tyler that will turn rotors for $10 each. An auto parts store will charge 3 to 4 times that much but it's still less expensive than new rotors. Here's a picture of mine (non-Alcon) after primer painting and having them turned.
.
.
Attached are the minimum thickness specifications from the Service Manual.
And also attached is a Technical Service Bulletin regarding front brake "creak". I realize it's not showing the Alcon brakes, but it stresses the importance of applying brake grease where appropriate.

`sorry for my ignorance, re the ceramic pads I assume that us what the Alcon OEM were and are, Would ceramic be more inclined to squeak? I really cant stand the squeak and since I drive the car very easy really I dont actually need Alcons lol. love the look though. prefer less dust and no squeak compared to all out performance as I will never track the car or drive it insanely fast into corners etc to be fair.

Gomes, I think ceramics are less inclined to squeak than metallics. They are also cleaner. I now have Bosch QuietCast ceramics on my 2009 Jaguar XKR Portfolio, 2011 BMW x3 35i, and 2010 GMC Denali and they all are very quiet and clean of brake dust. Not sure if Bosch makes QuietCast brakes for Alcons. You might call FCP Euro as they seem to highly recommend the QuietCasts in this video I just found.

I'll second (third?) the recommendation for ceramic pads. I installed ceramics when I did my brake/rotor upgrade. Good performance. Less brake dust.

So Annoying, Can't get replacements easily and I don't want mis match rotors front to rear. I could live with cross drilled and slotted fronts ..

I bought a Centric for the front passenger side 3 years ago from Autopartsway in Alberta. It's been fine, no problem with a mismatch with the original drivers side - looks identical and braking is dead true.

Try this company. I got my drilled/slotted rotors from Cquence when I upgraded my XK brakes. They did the drilling & slotting on my rotors, so maybe they can duplicate the Alcon slot pattern.

I’ll have. Look at that company Ty.. I decided to call the jag dealership lol just incase they had some in stock let’s say.. anyhow lol 1527 per rotor at jag parts department. Even the guy laughed he was so taken back. I have lordco Canada seeing if they can still source the centrics . If so I may buy two sets so I don’t have to deal with ever again. Will update as this lordco guy seemed to say something different than the lady I first had at a different store.
