Default How difficult would it be to fit

I wonder how difficult it would be to fit an F-Type steering wheel on to an XK. Other then changing some of the connectors would it fit the shaft and will the column mate up with the wheel. It appears the functions are pretty much the same so other then switching out wires and connectors what else is needed. Then the next question would be how does it look. Are they both the same size or is the F-Type smaller in dia.

Are you trying to turn your GT into a go-cart? You would be better of purchasing a used XKR steering wheel and modifying it to your liking (contours, flat bottom, finish, etc).

Don't need another XKR wheel just speculating as to the fit.

I know in my case, the XK's steering wheel is not that comfortable. I haven't tried the F-type's. (No back cubby spaces/seats.)

There are several parts of the XK's interior, that if I still worked as a machinist, I'd be asking permission to do some after hours parts making to fix to my tastes.

I didnt mind the XK wheel - it is the same as the previous XF's.

The f type wheel is more modern and sporty looking. It is quite lovely to use in the f type and the XE (they are essentially the same wheel as far as I can see) or at least the combination of steering/seat/ride is the best part of the cars. The buttons are a little generic but work fine. There are some functions on the wheel that wouldnt apply to the XK, eg dash menus. I also wouldnt know if the airbag and other tech in the wheel would be compatible with the XK tech.

The wheel design itself is suited to the seating position of the f type and the XE which is a lot lower than that of the XK. The rim is closer, and the top is bigger than the bottom. I wouldnt know whether (in the more upright XKR seating position) you would have and impediment to your vision of the dash.

Being there is adjustments in the up /down and in/out the only way you could impede visibility is if the F-Type wheel is smaller in diameter. Does anyone know if it is.

I'll pop down and have a look (and measure) later and try to get a picture of the side of the wheel as well.

OK the wheel is about 35cm diameter (edge to edge). Unfortunately the light was bad so the pictures arent much chop, but these pictures might give you an idea.

It'd look nice in the XKR if you could do it.
