Wow. Bet that's not a Malhe or Mann filter....

Ever wondered what a sweatshop looks like? Wonder what famous name they print on the case?

Tragic...

This was very interesting. I did some searching for oil filters made in the USA. There are quite a few, however, several are careful to say “majority”, not all. I always find in interesting when companies weasel word their product descriptions. I guess they assume we are of a lower intelligence than their marketing writers. Here is a list of oil filters I found that state they are all made in the USA. ACDelco, Amsoil, Motorcraft, Royal Purple, STP. I used to use WIX, but I found they are now made from “global materials in U.S. and other locations”. Smooooth, but very sad. Off the list. I was also disappointed to find that Mann is now made in China. Off the list. I read an article that the yellow filter paper has now been found to be just regular folded paper in some cases and has deteriorated and clogged a few oil ports recently. What next, plastic and cardboard?

This is a disassembly comparo among oil filters. Top is mostly USA filters. Bottom is Eurofilters. For the bottom, turn on closed captions.

BTW, it matters less where it's made than how it's made.

Motortrend TV hosted the boys from Roadkill testing on a stationary engine without a detonation sensor, all the oil filters and at least 5-6 gasolines from E85 thru to 116 leaded race gas. The results are shocking, outstanding and could put the auto industry on its head.

Really would have been GREAT, if John Diana and Gray Baskerville had done the test. Just a bit late and no Motortrend TV either.

Engine Masters results on the oil filters they used, had a few common performances. One was, they all had the same 20 micron filters with the exception of the two racing filters. They both were 60 microns of filtering. All had the same filtering rate. Like gallons per hour.
