Default I-Pace quicker than XKR

I saw an article over the week end that stated the new Jaguar I-Pace does 0-60 in 4.5 sec. I guess so much for the 510 hp XKR. A while back a company converted an old Ferrari 308 to an all electric car so I wonder if they could do it with an XKR. Any volunteers.

It's all relatively moot at this point really, as the top line Tesla S reaches the vaulted 60 in under 2 seconds. Is an electric Jag SUV quicker than a five (at its newest) year old XKR. I surely hope so, or what has become of progress?

If I need a dose of adrenaline, I'll hop into my P/S Mustang..... 1.44 second 60-foot time. About 0-60 in 1.4 seconds. That's from DEAD stop, no 'rolling'. Course top-speed is only 165 or so, and absolutely FORGET any corners whatsoever.

Who needs an I-Pace?

You can now get an E-Type and have it factory converted to electric with I-Pace guts if that's your sort of thing. Me I like the sound on.

Hahaha funny but so do all of the other P/S cars. Hey I was watchin the Motor Trend giant drag race last night an saw in the 2017 running they had an F-Type in the group. They mentioned the 2018 race will be at the end of this month.

It might be faster, but for how long. Repeated runs will flatten the battery very quickly, whilst the XKR goes on and on and on..........

Yeah, that's the first thing I always think of too when I see these types of comparisons. It's a trade-off, and a big one at that. Drain the batteries with a few spirited runs and it's back to the garage for an overnight charging. With a REAL automobile, a few minutes refueling and you are good to go.

Jaguar Classic can electrify any Jaguar. All it takes is lots of money. See my Post #15:

Yep I've seen the E-Type but nothing about doing a late model XK. Would also be interesting to see if someone could put a 5.0L XKR engine in an XKE.

I could direct you to a very inexpensive 5.0L drive train et al if you would like to try it!

Convert a Caterham to electric and you'll have a rocket ship.

I don't understand your question.............. Why Ripley's? Sub-Second sixty foot times are quite common. PLUS, the big-end difference in a one/tenth increase in the 60' is HUGE. Can easily be a second slower at the 1/4 with that much change.

I only DREAM of being that quick. Criminy, I'm over HALF A SECOND SLOWER than some guys to 60', and that's MANY seconds slower to the 1320'. AND, the QUICK guys only go to 1000' now.

NOT my slip, except in my dreams..........

Heck, I could do that in my old '53 Studebaker. Course the speedo didn't work so I'm guessing here...

It does seem to fall off a little over the standing quarter.
