I'm tempted
If there is anything that would tempt me from selling my XKR this would be a great candidate. Even my bride liked it.

The XKR-S is far and away the better car, with fewer headaches, newer technologies, and much lower maintenance and insurance costs. Sure, it's not a convertible and doesn't have the beauty and V12 of the DB9, but that's just my opinion FWIW.
I have a client that has one in black. Looks lovely though I preferred the XKR. If the XKR infotainment was dated, it is pretty much prehistoric in the Aston, and that is what drove me from looking at a '12 DB9 coupe to the F Type.
Don’t know. Some complain about the ‘fried egg’ look of our headlights, but that Aston looks like it has an eye infection.

I love the AM but a 2006 just seems like a step back. The wife and I are considering a "refresh" but for the money I just can't see anything I would consider that would feel like an upgrade for less than 70-80K. I might just have to keep my XKR forever.
Aston or Jag? Ask the Forum member who had both. See rscultho's post #12:

I would at least got for an 09 because the interior was facelifted and you get the crystal key instead of a Volvo ignition key with a leather cover over it!
I test drove one before buying my '10 XKR. I would have preferred to see the Aston in my garage but I prefer the way the XKR drove and is a much better daily driver.

I've been tempted by early DB9s immensely. I ended up buying an early X150 XKR. I think both are beautiful cars, but one huge benefit to the Jaguar is that you can run them cheap, parts are cheap, and really they are fairly easy to work on. I also have peace of mind how cheap it is to fix, unlike buying a block for V12 Aston if they've had the rear cylinder oil starvation that they can have if oil gets low and the dipstick hasn't been upgraded to properly warn the owner. They are great cars, but I don't feel that I settled getting my XKR; I'm happy, spending less to buy in, and spending less throughout ownership isn't bad either. "Slumming" it with Jaguars isn't too bad
.
The Aston community seems quite nice, but is smaller and less DIY it appears than the Jaguar world. The community is part of the reason that it's been so easy to own my X100 XKR coming up on 8 years and 40K miles. Y'all are good people. Just wanted to throw that in as well.

No joy for me in this ride. The previous owners must have been masochists. No wonder it's for sale again.
Yes. Went to a preview at the local dealer for the 2019 models and was underwhelmed (pretty much everyone else there was as well, in fact one buyer cancelled his pre-order in favour of the new Bentley). Benz motor is great, but complex and the body looked like an MX-5.
