Well how is everyone? I miss my XKR...
Yes, I do. I loved that car.
I am very much looking forward to see what the new XK/R is gonna look like.
I also think the F Type is gonna evolve in looks over the next few years.

Hi, rsculthoi
You will have to get a new xk. I have come back from a weekend of mad driving in the cannonball ireland. There was 2 xkr's one of which was mine as in picture, 2 xk's, a xkr-s and a f-type. Most of the public passing by, thought our xk's were aston martins as per the shape. The most dissapointing thing for me was that the f-type, a convertible was been over looked by most people and i would have to put my self at the front of the queue, i was to busy looking at a xkr-s, 6 months old, the one in the picture below, which the owner sold at the event. The f-type didn't get the looks of the xk's and as you said it probably will evolve more but i couldn't see me swaping my xkr for one. Don't get me wrong ,it is beautiful to look at but the xk has still for me the best lines and parked beside it's sisters i had some good debates with people on xk vs aston's and the xk came out on top in some cases. The xk can still hold it's own with the best supercars, and now gone out of production i hope a new one rolls out sooner than later.

I must admit I love the roar of the cat but I also love the howl of the Fcar.
Mine comes with a full milltek exhaust and i managed to pass the f-type out and stayed in front of it. My xkr has more of a deep growl that matches the car, where as the f-types has a ferrari type of a scream, it was a pleasure for me to be in front as the milltek over powered the f-types scream as the owner had to comment on when we had a brief stop and he said he had his on the louadest setting. I had the pleasure of a 430 ferrari in my rear view mirror for the last leg of the first day. When we stopped he said it was a pleasure to listen to the soundtrack, which brought a smile to my face.
I used to have a XKR and agree its a fantastic car and good sound out the back... I now have a F-type R which is certainly faster and handles a bit better, with a better sound system, yet the XKR was a great GT car and the F is a bit more of a sport car.
Hard to choose between them, but I prefer the F by a small margin.. afterall, the dynamic setup is more modern so its easier to drive fast as well.
The XKR is more practical due to storage.
Lawrence.

So, are you having second thoughts about your gorgeous Aston? Is beauty only skin deep? Is she living up to your expectations? Do you look in on her in your garage every night before you go to sleep? Is the honeymoon over?

I agree. I miss my XKR until I step on my F Type R.
Such fascination here with exhaust note! I enjoyed the vert aspect most.
I hope you're enjoying the AM relentlessly!

Glad to see everyone is enjoying their cars. I am still glad I got the DBS. It is expensive to own, but I knew that going in. Price we pay...
Like I said I am very interested in what the new XKR is gonna "be". If it is to my liking, I may switch back. After I finish renovating my house, I am gonna consider getting an XKR-S, although I have a lot of lobbying to do with the better half to accomplish that.
One thing I will say is my XKR was much more stable on wet roads than the DBS. When driving through heavy rain its like I am back in my 2002 XKR. Back end moves around a lot more. Tires are a little wider than XKR but the XKR's traction control was much better.
I am going through tires on the back of my car. It is difficult to keep the tires from barking when sitting on a hill and taking off...good problem to have?

Bruce made an interesting comment re: exhaust notes. I'm TOTALLY fascinated with exhaust notes. I will admit that it's one of my checkboxes when buying cars for me. The engine has to sound 'right'. It's probably one of the reasons that I'm unlikely to buy a 4 banger for me -- I've NEVER heard one I like. It's also the same reason I don't like V-Twins. It reminds me of my garden tractor. Now, the 3 cylinder in my Triumph though... that's a great noise. (I suppose I'll exempt the small displacement V4s found in crotch rockets -- cuz those sound neat).
The British mfgs seem to have really nailed the exhaust notes though. AM and Jag in particular have had a good run recently on amazing results right out of the factory.

You do know that the reason they call 'em Lotus is: that's the position you need to adopt to get in & out
Speaking of which, I have a Chiropractor appointment on Friday.
