Default Info Center Back Light

The info center on our XK now has a red back light that showed up a week or so ago.

Not sure of the cause, but everything still works.

Display's done, if you're good with eletronics and soldering, you can do it yourself, otherwise new cluster from main dealer.

Is the display available as an individual unit to solder in?

Not directly from Jaguar, but another member’s done it recently using a working display removed from a used cluster.

Too bad it's not source able from an electronics supplier somewhere out there.

Changing the entire gauge panel would be a nightmare, with all the programming and such required, and then the VIN would have a permanent Mismatch code.
Maybe try to find a specialist somewhere, and possibly have just the display swapped from a replacement panel.

Now, if you'd started this thread saying that you'd upgraded the info centre to have this really cool graduated red tint, there would probably have been people wanting you to show them how to do it to their cars...

Quote from the other thread re-display swap:

Let me say this.

I have CONFIRMED the statement that you CAN NOT direct swap the instrument cluster. Even if the replacement is in the same VIN Range.

I obtained a nice looking full cluster from a VIN B11xxxx mine is B15xxxx. Direct swapped. Car would not even come on. Swap back, all is fine. WOW.

Im sure somewhere in somebodys mind this makes sense. The BCM and PCM should hold the important info. Why in the world lock out the car with a simple Readout Swap.

Any Way.

After disassembling the donor Cluster , removing the center screen and installing it in my cluster, took 30 minutes. It WORKED I can actually see the Center Screen , Color ME happy

.
