Default Inspection Readiness after battery change

I changed my battery on the XK while it was in the garage for the winter. Now my NY inspection is up for renewal... I plugged in my odb reader and it still has the o2 and evap as not completed. I can pass with only 1 still not completed... so looking to see what else I can do aside from driving aimlessly ...

My X type has a sequence of idle, start, drive to 50 for X amount of minutes at less than x rpms etc...anyone have directions for a readiness process on an 07 4.2 ?

Typically it takes 50-70 miles of a good, steady drive. One thing that helps is to have just over a half-tank of fuel when you start and end up with less than half a tank.

Looks like I may be getting up early this Sunday and going for a long drive before anyone else is around.. Problem will be keeping it below 70 on the open road let's see how it goes....

There is some drive cycle info in the earlier codes PDF and then for 2007 here http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Auto...XKworkshop.pdf

EVAP can be pesky (needs cold soak, tank not too full/empty).

Otherwise monitors should set easily and if they don't then a fault (which you maybe didn't know about) should be suspected.

Don't have a dubious battery.

Then if they still don't set, and there are no codes or pending codes look at OBD live data. Check sensors for plausibility then check fuel trims as by this stage you're in dire need of solid facts.

Still haven’t had a chance to take her out again for a drive. Last week took it over it for about 20+ miles on freeway but nothing. Maybe it needs to idle longer before / after ?

Hoping that someone might have a readiness document or instruction / procedure set to finally get the o2 or Evap to complete..: I can have one still in not ready mode ... but getting either of those 2 complete is becoming a PIA .

Seriously, just drive the car for a day or two and it'll sort itself out.

190 miles since it reset and still not ready ... that’s more than a day or two of driving

You can also just let it idle for 30 minutes that
might help

What DTC's are you getting now? If you are getting a P1000, System Readiness Test not Complete, then you need to drive it more. If that is NOT set and you are getting O2 and Evap failures you may still have a problem that needs to be fixed before they will go away.

Well a little over 200 miles and finally got the Ready ... looks like the trick was basically keeping it under 59mph for a bunch of different drives. Easier said than down though - lol

thanks all !
