Question Insurance

How much more is an XKR to insure vs other non aluminum comparable cars?

Thanks

From what I hear, those tiny jokes of a rear seats make the insurance easier. Not sure how but that's what I heard.

I have a 2011 XKR175 and the insurance is about the same as my 2008 Mercedes CLK350 Cabrio and a bit less than my 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS. Makes no sense, but I'm not complaining.

I was surprised to learn a 300HP 3700 pound Jaguar XK cost $20 more per month than my 505HP 3100 pound Z06. That's goofy.

My XKR has less 179 HP (425hp vs 604hp) and 325 torque (413tq vs 738tq) than the SL and the SL has no back seats and a convertible but the XKR is $100 more a year...........go figure.

The replacement parts for the aluminum Jag cost more I'd imagine

That's not good to hear, I'd bet it's the aluminum parts extra cost along with limited number of certified alumn repair shops

My 2008 XK convertible is about $150.00 more per year than my 2008 Pontiac Solstice was (which for some reason is about the cheapest car on the road to insure)

Do most people here use collector's car insurance?

Collector's car insurance? Forum section is 2007+ - how do you get that on a new car?

As I understand it, the fact your car is new is irrelevant. Consider a 1977 Datsun isn't a collectible, but a 2011 Corvette ZR-1 is. Some collector car insurance mandates the driver not to drive to work others don't care.
