Default Jaguar extended warranty on 2010 XK

My factory original warranty runs out next week and I am considering extending it through Jaguar.
has anyone else done this? If so, can you give me some input as to your experience with it.
I understand it is prorated and when you sell the car you can transfer it or get a percentage of your money back.
Pretty much full coverage other than wear.

I'd purchased a 7 year, 50,000 mile extended warranty on my '10 XKR from a Jaguar dealer about 2 months ago. Cost me $3700 without any haggling. Given the costs of Jaguar repair, it is a good insurance. Yes, it is pro-rated, you will get monies back for any unused portion of the warranty.

I had the insurance on my '05 XK and got a bunch of money back when I sold it less than half way through the time period. Never used either of them because my Jags have been quite reliable. Still, it's well worth my piece of mind. It is also quite cheap at $44/month.

I live in cbus Ohio I have a 2012 XKR... The warranty is up in 12/2015. My dealership says there is no such thing as a Jaguar warranty program apart from certification when you purchase used cars.... Tell me how is it, and where is it, that you guys are allowed to buy/extend your warranties???

Is warranty extension through Jaguar something you do my calling Jaguar USA or by dealing with a dealership?! Are dealership/warranty agreements dealership specific? Very concerned about going without a warranty considering cost of repair on these cars.

There are various "third-party" warranties. Jim Moran seems to be the biggest with Jaguar. I am sure that other forum members can chime in on the "TP" that they might have.

You can go thru a dealer or even buy direct. Prices vary and dependent on year, length of service, and levels of service on the policies.

Ryan:

Check out:

Fidelity Warranty Services - Terms of Use

There are many vendors that offer extended warranties and the opinions on extended warranties run both very good and I have read numerous nightmares.

I purchased my 2008 XKR on consignment through a Jaguar dealer. The original owner had a 100,000 extended warranty through Jaguar USA. When I inquired with Jaguar USA about transferring the warranty to my name, they said it could only be done if I bought the car directly from the person who bought the original warranty. Because I paid the dealer, I could not transfer the warranty. Read the fine print on any kind of extended warranty you get.

I bought the Jaguar extended warranty from my dealer when I bought the car off its lease last week. I have a 2012 XK with 36,000 miles on it. The title of the warranty is Jaguar Land Rover Vehicle Protection Plan. The administer of the plan is United Service Protection Corp. Their Hq is in St Petersburg, Fl.

Essentially, it covers everything but the convertible top mechanism and normal wear and tear. Cost was $4100 for 72 months and/or 75,000 miles. The reason I bought the warranty goes back to my 2004 XJR; I purchased the warranty when the factory warranty expired 4 years after I bought the car. Within the first month the A/C went out and had to be replaced. The replacement cost would have been more than the warranty and there was no argument about it. The dealer just replaced the A/C at no additional cost to me and that was that.

Scottsdale Jaguar will sell me a warranty which they say is a Jaguar warranty and there is no deductible at any Jag dealer 6-75000 for $3900. Uses all Jaguar parts for repair. My car is a week away from going out of factory warranty.
I called my Credit union who holds the loan and they offer MRC or "Mechanical Repair Coverage" warranty for an extended 48 months and 48000 more miles.
Platinum coverage covers darn near everything with $250 deductible for $1800. They will use non Jag parts where applicable so I would think that it would make more since to go to a Jaguar repair "specialist" with this. There are a few in Tempe that fit the bill.
Now I am deciding. I do not really want 100% full, no deductible warranty, just want to be protected from a catastrophic event.

I got ripped 3k from couture customs/US Government when I bought my xkr, still trying to figure out how to get that back. It was going to be through Cornerstone.

The extended warranty cost will depend on age of car and the mileage on the car. My dealer had told me about Jaguar Vehicle Protection Plan offered by Jaguar Cars when I purchased my car last year but I had decided to hold off. The plan has no deductible for authorized repairs performed at Jaguar dealers, and $100 deductible by any other repair facility. I have a 2013 XKR, and i had recently brought it in for the 1st year service at 1442 miles. The local dealer offered me the following:

Terms:
6 Years or 75,000 total miles $3295.00
6 Years or 100,00 total miles $3595.00
7 Years or 100,000 total miles $3895.00

I then called my selling dealer and was offered a better price. I live in California, and ended up getting the 7/100K extended plan from my selling dealer. PM me and i can give you the contact name and details.

We're they the guys that got busted for selling to drug dealers? That was a weird story. Sorry you got caught up in it.

I have a 7 year/70,000 mile "Platinum" service plan from Fidelity for $4044. I have no idea what that means or if it was a good deal or not. I was not an informed buyer of extended warranties, but I factored my ignorance into the price of the car, so I'm ok with it. I hope to continue in my ignorance, as I only ever learn things the hard way.

Here is the address:

When my factory warranty ended I took out my warranty from East Care/Total Care for 6 years/60,000 miles with a $50 deductible. Better Business Bureau has give them an A+ and most Jag and Porsche dealers here in Florida use them for their customers. I really should have taken the $100 deductible and saved a few more dollars. I believe it cost around $3700. If the infotainment system goes south, that alone will pay for the policy. There have been a number of cooked engines do to the weak water pump as well. Next month will be one year and I have not seen the dealer for anything, but then again I've only driven 2,500 miles since purchase. Once again it always gets down to "peace of mind".

Those are good prices. My Dealer wants 3900, 4400, 4600...roughly.

I have the same warranty - easy care total care 6yr/60k, but with a $250 deduct. I paid $3k for this when I bought the car. I have had the easy care warranty on a previous porsche 911 turbo, it was hassel free, and more than paid for itself. I think fidelity and easy care are the best warranties.

Both companies are similar. I've been told by Jaguar that customers don't have problems getting their claims approved with Easy Care. Also, with Easy Care you also get wheel/tire protection as well as an option for up to $50 per day for a loaner.

Default 5Yr. / 100,000K w/tire and wheel coverage.

I hope to own a used 2012 XKR in the next 1-2 days. Started researching and shopping around for an Extended Service Plan (AKA- Extended Warranty to some of you). Looked into Fidelity, Extended care and Direct Buy.

Ended up going with Direct Buy: https://www.directbuywarranty.com/
Plan description: https://www.directbuywarranty.com/co...-agreement.php

Here is why:
1. Submitted online application and within 2-3 minutes I had a live person call me back.

2. We discussed options and pricing and as we did the DB representative was emailing me copies of coverage so I could read the fine print. I was interested in their top product, the Platinum Elite plan and tire/wheel coverage.

3. Was able to negotiate (told seller I was looking into other plans) and he willingly met and beat the other plan pricing. I ended up with a Platinum Elite 5Yr./100K + tire/wheel coverage which will be tacked onto the end of my factory coverage. ie. factory expires 11/2015, new plan starts 11/2015 and will end 11/2020.

4. Plan is transferable w/ NO fee, renewable and has no cap or limit on payouts. Also, a 30 day full REFUND if I change mind or don't purchase this car.

5. The kicker was PRICE >>> $2400 with $0 deductible! This worked for me, maybe you can do better!

Seller asked if I could post his name and direct number here so that other members could call him for a similar deal. Unsure if this is OK to post in accordance with the Forum Rules? Admins, may I post contact name and number? And no, he is not my uncle, I'm not getting anything in return. I just think we should share good information here in order to help each other out.

I bought my 2010 XKR from an individual about a yr ago. He was the second owner. The first owner got a jag extended warranty. I have verified several times that jag will honor this warranty for me, so I don't think that it is non-transferable as a rule, given that it was issued by Jaguar. I think that it is for 2 additional yrs, but forget the specifics. I was told it is similar but not identical to the original factory warranty. For example, the dealership tested the battery, and said that it was OK, but if tested bad after the original warranty was not covered by the extended warranty.
