Default just bought a 2007 xk convertible with some problems

I was always fascinated with the XK design and finally last week i bought a 2007 convertible with 65000 miles on the odo. So far I'm in love with it. but it has some problems that i like to fix with the help of this forums as i used to get plenty of help back when i owned the X-type.

first: i have the pedestrian system fault. with the red triangle.
second: i have the AFS icon on the dash and my headlight are pointing down.
third and last: the A/C drips water on passenger side.

thank you all in advance

1. Could be the sensor at fault there.
2. Not sure what AFS is but the headlights pointing down could be the height sensors or motors or a fuse.
3. Condensate drain from a/c is blocked and overflowing into the cabin. There is a fix diy, Google a/c duck bill. Dealer will want to take the dash out to fix this one.

Not sure about the 1st two issues, though they may be something a battery reset might cure. As to water in the passenger footwell, most of us with early models have experienced it. It is quite fixable and I would not advise seeing a dealer abou it....$$$$. I followed several posts here and was able to fabricate a tool that took care of mine very well. It took several frustrating tries but worked out fine in the end.
Welcome to the XK club I know you are going to really enjoy it after you get the wrinkles ironed out!

For item #3, see this thread:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...lution-149349/

Read the whole thread, and you'll have a good idea of how to fix the problem yourself ($$$$ cheaper than the dealer route).

P.S. Welcome to the club!

Hey MeeMo. Welcome to the XK forum. Codes might help point us in a direction on items 1 and 2.

MeeMo,

Why did you conclude that the red triangle warning is for a fault with the Pedestrian Protection System? I note that you're in the USA and presume that the 2007 XK that you just purchased is a US-market vehicle. If so, your car is not equipped with the Pedestrian Protection System and the red triangle is a warning for something else. See this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...system-110244/ and, in particular, post #9 by Jeremy B, which I have copied below for everyone's convenience:
"From the X150 Workshop manual (page 3636):
>>
The Pedestrian Protection System is factory fit only to non Federal vehicles.
<<
And I can find NO trace of the listed components on my US-version 2008 XK.

So I suspect this system is fitted to 'ROW' (Rest Of World) vehicles only - I see posts from UK members mostly about this. I don't know about other countries... "
I've never seen a US-market X150 with the Pedestrian Protection System. That system is not required under US law.

Did your dashboard display an explanation of that red triangle warning symbol? Was there any other symbol inside that red triangle? A picture of that red triangle would be helpful. Are you sure it was red and not amber? If it was amber, that tells you that you've activated the Forward Alert system. Maybe you inadvertently pushed that button and didn't realize what happened. See: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...gle-car-91858/

If your XK is equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control, the red triangle warning could be for a fault with your forward alert warning system (that's part of the ACC package). Fixing it could be as simple as clearing an obstruction that's blocking the transmitter. See: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-alert-107684/ If your steering wheel has a total of 4 rotary switches, it has ACC and FAWS. Here's a picture of my steering wheel with ACC:

And without ACC:

If you have the Owner's Handbook, it might tell you what that red triangle means.

If this was helpful, please press the button on the bottom right.

I forget to mention that I'm not in the US so my car is not US specs.
and by AFS i mean the adaptive headlights. my car doesn't have adaptive cruse control and some time cruse control is not available and i have to turn the car off and on again to make it work again.

Hi

It sounds like a voltage issue.. please be sure to check if the battery is ok.. in many cases the low voltage will render the sensors of the car useless and therefore removes the ability for cruise control (and adaptive cruise and collision alert - if installed)

For the Pedestrian System.. have the garage read out the error code and look that one up.. 90% chance its a faulty sensor. Now.. get a donor sensor and have that fitted (they are behind the bumper and easily accessible when on a bridge

for the headlights; call Exco in the Netherlands, they have some solutions that are cheap. If it is indeed a cable problem, your jag dealer will have to sell you a whole new unit at around $2k .. the Exco fix is about $50.. so worth shipment

The waterdrip: put the car on a bridge.. lower the gearbox and with a remote small camera look for the duckbill outlet.. and push it with a metal strip or something.. its the easiest way to get it open again.. : also be aware that you probably will need to replace the AC motor as it will start making squeeky noises in a few months time (due to rust)

I have a 2007 XK Conv that had the same problems
