I used a barbed brass insert that is simply a "force fit". No damage to the OEM pipe.

Does anyone have detail on X150 catch can placement, routing, etc.? I like the idea of a drainable can but stil don't see where a placement will work on X150 models.

I'm actually thinking of rebuilding mine. There is a ton of room under the passenger headlamp. Not sure if it's the same for 5.0 models.

But I am considering fabricating a can and placing it there. Much cooler in that spot and would condense the vapors faster. I'll try to take a pic when I have my headlamp off.

Here is the amt of vapor trapped and drained at my first oil change. It was actually quite a bit and looked like the baffle was over-saturated (not sure if that's the right word).

I will reduce the drain interval from 6000 Miles (@ the oil change) to 3000 Miles.

Also, the rubber 'PCV rated' hose is swelling and even shows condensation. It is starting to stink in the engine bay and even into the cabin. I will have to replace the rubber tubes with full length clear tubing. That seems to be holding up well.

Quantity @ ~6000 miles:

Upgraded mine with an extra 3 baffles. Hopefully I get some more oil separation.

Considered the steel wool option but as I was cutting some to size, I was not thrilled about all the debris and metal shavings coming off of it.

You could try this mesh stuff instead of wool, as it is not prone to shredding or loss of material but still vastly increases surface area:

Unless you have some clear plastic tubing thats immune from the effects of petroleum products and it too will be very slowly attacked from the oil and by the strong vacuum on the PCV line. It will eventually collapse. At least that’s my experience. I have a moroso Catch can mounted in my STR but I have not yet connected any lines to it as I can’t bear the thought of destroying or cutting the hard plastic line that goes to the PCV valve. Does anybody know where I can find two fittings that will mate to either the PCV valve or inlet fitting at the throttlebody that will accept a similar size hose that I can run to my Catch can?

I know this is an old thread, but here's what your intake manifold looks like at 105,000 miles with no catch can. The valve on the right has a dislodged valve seat, which probably has nothing to do with the carbon buildup. The valve on the leftis barely visible because it's covered with 105K miles of oil that has been cooked off by the heat of the engine.

When I get my engine rebuilt, I'm definitely installing a catch can.

That will help, but meth injection would keep it spotless.

I didn't know that meth could be injected. I thought you had to smoke it or eat it.

Rev, please be sure to keep us aprised of how you effect installation as it continues to perplex me how to figure it out.
Are you doing a total rebuild or just heads?

I'm just removing the left head, having the seat replaced, and reinstalling the head. Depending on how difficult it is to remove the head, I might also remove the right head to have the carbon cleaned from it.
