Default Looking for a 5.0L XKR coupe?

Saw this on the way home from a trip tonight. 2010 XKR coupe where Jaguar has just replaced the engine with a brand new one, $30,000 repair ticket. They also repaired the dashboard. And it's a No Reserve auction. What more could you ask for? I have two XKRs already, but if this one stays below about $28K by the end of the auction tomorrow, I fear I may have a third. It's local here in Southern California, so I'm very tempted. This is nearly the same scenario as when I bought my coupe three years ago. The previous owner's aftermarket warranty paid for an engine to be installed in the car by my mechanic, it had about 5000 miles on it at the time. But this one got a new engine with Jaguar warranty. Photos look like the car is in excellent condition.

Please, somebody buy it so that I don't!

I saw this. I'm a convertible guy, but I also am in the LA area and agree that this is a steal. If it was a 'vert I'd put in a bid.

Question: do ALL 2010 XKRs have the advanced technology package? I always notice that second wheel on the right-hand side of the steering wheel and I've never seen a 2010 XKR without one.

That wheel is the Adaptive Cruise Control setting, and I think you're right about all the 2010s have it.

Where on the invoice did it say a "new" engine? I only saw stripped and renew, with an additional ~$800 for a Super-charger kit. And why would a "new" engine have only a 1 year warranty on it?

This entire case including the "Goodwill Repair" seems very strange. (The car appears to be about 22 months out of warranty when the repair was done.)

Was a new block installed? What caused the noise and metal shavings in the oil?

Did the super-charger crap out and throw impeller blades into the cylinders? No real mention of what actually happened to the engine.

And why is the owner now dumping the car without reserve on ebay, only a couple of months from warranty expiration on the "new" engine?

Could be too much work for Jag to give to the dealership and it's easier for Jag to just ship a new engine.

wow that is a steal.

When I was looking, there was a local 2010 XK (not XKR) with ~60k miles that had the engine replaced 2000 miles prior... Said it kept overheating so Jag replaced it. I drove it and it just didn't feel right. There was a lag and weak acceleration off the line. It felt like 4 cylinder turbo lag. Nonetheless, I didn't by it because of that... I'm NOT stating this car has any issues like that but I thought it was odd that a Jag replaced motor would have a noticeably huge issue like that.

Sorry, yeah, what I meant-- that wheel's my first check for that Advanced Technology package, or at least that's what I think it was called on the 2010s. (I do like it on mine-- use that adaptive cruise a fair amount, the forward sensor's always on-- but I get the adaptive headlight warning light about half the time the lights are on...)

I was so engrossed in a construction job I was doing, I forgot to check it, so no, I did not buy it. Although, I'm happy it sold for that price as it sort of validates what I paid for mine about 3 years ago at $38K with an engine replacement that had about 5000 miles on it (as this one had a new engine replacement and now has 4000 miles on it.). I'm sure someone will have a very nice, reliable XKR for the forseeable future, maybe even will become or already is a Jaguar Forums member. It was hard to tell from the pictures, but the one thing that didn't seem very well done was the dash repair. It may have just been the angle and glare from the photograph, but there was some reference to it in the description as well. In my car, once I repaired it up until today, the dash remains perfect and indistinguishable from new, and my car lives outside every night and day, and is subjected to 100+F most summer and fall afternoons in the San Fernando Valley. It will be interesting to see if the person who bought the car ends up contributing to the Forum.
