After a long search, I finally acquired a replacement for my X100 XKR convertible. Having looked at a number of Jags and Mercedes SLs, I came across this lovely 2008 XKR coupe while browsing through Autotrader yesterday morning. The ad had no pictures, minimal description, and no price. Normally I would wait until all this info was posted, but I already missed two other cars in that process.
Ironically, it was located at a dealership not five miles from where I picked up my first XKR in a town about 60 miles from home. Funny how life works.
Once I determined the color combo, Silver with the Ivory interior, it was a no brainer to jump in the car to take a look. Although the price was a bit more than I wanted to spend initially, the 34k miles and beautiful condition helped me decide to make the deal. Also, what is with this whole “one price” philosophy current dealers have? I am too old school not to do some negotiation on the money. I stayed a little stubborn and got a small amount off the price, but was ready for some serous arm wrestling. Oh well, it was pretty near average market retail, but the horse trader in me would have liked more.
Getting back in a Jag will be great, and having reason to frequent this forum will also be welcomed. I will try to attack a first picture of the car here, and take some more once it is home with me.
Beautiful car - congrats! I think that cat has the right number of miles to show activity without wear and tear.
That was very similar to my buying experience: my XKR car hit autotrader while it was still at the recon shop with no pictures. The 32k miles and color combo (gray and ivory) were enough to get me on the phone, the salesman knew the car intimately from it being sold and serviced at that dealership since new in 2013. He drove to the recon shop, took a few pics, and I told him I could be there by 5PM if he'd hold it for me. For some reason that took a conversation with the sales manager, but it helped that recon wouldn't be finished until 3PM. He picked-up the car after we got to the dealership, we liked the test drive, and the buy decision was made. They would not budge on the price, they said nice XKRs don't last long at a Jaguar dealership, so I took it.
The no-negotiating worked out ok since they made up for it by taking care of the few things I saw and wanted addressed. The driver seat side-bolster was a mess and they sent it to their leather guy and it is like new, addressed curb rash on 1 wheel, a few paint chips, etc.
Thanks for all the nice comments. I am excited to pick it up tomorrow, as we are expected to have nice weather all day. It will be an enjoyable drive home.
The previous owner took great care of it from my perspective, with the interior showing minimal wear, and not a mark on the wheels. The emergency spare was not in the trunk, but the dealership is reaching out to the previous owner to see if he has it. Fortunately, the original selling dealer is our local Jaguar store, so getting service records should be possible.
Having missed out on a 2009 Portfolio last year, albeit with double the miles, I was determined not to lose this one.
Once I bring it home, more pics will find their way here on the forum.

I do not believe there is a spare tire on the XK. I thought it was “game over” when you get in a flat?
Congrats on your find! I had similar experience last August... found a '08 with 36k miles on it and snatched it up outside Philly.... we're in Beaver Falls, if you're nearby we could take our cars to PIR on open track days!

Some models came from the factory without a spare tire, including my 2009 XKR Portfolio convertible with Alcon Performance Brakes. Here's how I added a spare: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-brakes-67260/
