Question New purchase X150 - Diagnostics: Advice on next steps

Hi All,

New to Jaguars, and new to this impressive forum!

Bought a car that I suspect has been sitting for a while.
Budgeted for some spend..,....

See Diagnostics attached.
Have changed the battery to manufacturer supplied Varta. Previous battery was showing 11.9v.
This cleared some codes, but did cause an initial hiccup with the starter motor - now seemingly resolved.

Main concerns
- Driver front airbag ((stage 1) deployment control
- engine light linked to Passenger Safety system (seen videos re replacing sensors in front grill)
- Intermittent, and only after driving for a while, messages on dash saying 'Cruise control not available', ABS fault, traction control not available. Then on re-start they clear.

I'm trying to sort out the best course of action here:
gut reaction....
- replace all 4 O2 sensors (especially with system too lean message)
- replace left rear wheel sensor (which is triggering ABS message)

Is the best place for the sensors: https://www.ashwoodjagparts.co.uk/ ?#

and then.....airbag deployment system???

Oh, and the wash bottle is leaking! Probably a breaker/eBay job: not expensive.

Thanks all, and any insights, advice etc, greatly appreciated.

There are many more knowledgeable people on here than me...

But ..I would do a HARD RESET before anything else...

.... but did you CHARGE the new battery? "New" batteries sit for months during the time from manufacture to sale. Very rarely are the fully charged when you get them. 12.6 volts after prolonged sitting in the vehicle is an absolute MUST with these cars. That's the very first thing to check, every time.
Healey is also correct, a Hard Reset is the second step for electronic problems.

How do you go about a HARD RESET for a 2010 XK? Is it holding the negative and positive terminals together for 15-30 seconds after disconnecting from the battery?

I had similar messages-cruise not available, etc after a battery issue. Fully charged battery-Not with CTEK-hard reset cured issues.

I'd clear all your codes and charge the battery. Avoid changing all the o2 sensors until you see the lean errors come back. See if you can find any vacuum leaks before throwing parts at the problem.

- Driver front airbag ((stage 1) deployment control
- engine light linked to Passenger Safety system (seen videos re replacing sensors in front grill)
and...

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news but many of those codes are in a permanent state. Especially those telling a story of a crash.
Hope you didn't pay much.

Hi Guy,

Thanks for the post.

Not too much paid, hence ready for some bills, but.......

- Passenger Safety system: I've got an invoice saying these were replaced in 2022. The fault talks about the Control Module (U3000-66), and not the sensors.
Could they be the same thing?
or is this heading towards the realisation that this has been in an accident since?

- Driver front airbag ((stage 1) deployment control: Looking at a swap out?

Thanks for taking the time.
