Default New XK Owner question

Just started browsing and searching through the forums - please forgive me if this is already covered and I've just missed it.

I have a 2008 XK and do not have the iPhone/USB jacks. I can pair/dock my iPhone 7+ without any problem. It seems like it's working - mutes the radio when I dial etc. I just get no sound whatsoever through the speakers. The other person cannot hear me and I hear nothing (not even the phone ringing).
I tried deleting and setting it up over again, but the results were the same. Can someone please help me out? I unfortunately did not get a manual, so I'm "winging it"....but I was able to get my wife's old Windows Phone to work great....so I'm not sure what's wrong.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum J4GU4R,

I've posted a 2008MY Owner's Handbook download link in reply to your question in the Handbook sticky thread.

I as well as others on the Forum have found that XKs and I phones do not love each other. My bad experiences were with a 4S (4 of them). I am now a committed Android (Galaxy) user and find that I have no problems of any sort with pairing and using the any Galaxy with the XK or XKR.

Another thought, Jaguar upgraded the bluetooth phone unit somewhere in the 2010-2012 range. You may find that it will be necessary to upgrade your in car unit.

On the other hand I have used 4 or 5 different iPhones over the years with my '07 XKR running all versions of IOS from 3 to the current 11 with no issues what so ever. The only time I tried an Android with the car it didn't work properly so I think that the iPhone is actually better supported on the earlier cars.

My current phone is an 8 plus and worked with the '07 and my current '10 XKR.

Have you tried changing the sound source to make sure it is going through the car speakers and alternatively try playing it through the iPhone speaker because I think IOS 11 started prompting me for the sound source for a bit.

Have you also tried turning the volume up on the phone while you are making the call?

Dump Siri. Who’s stupid idea was that anyway?
At work, in the can, taking a dump, phone is in my pocket, and out of nowhere I here a voice... “Can I help you?”
Not funny Siri!
Turned that bitch off.

Siri to Jaguar owners, "I found 2300 Jaguar XK's that don't work with iPhone. Three are fairly close to you."

LOL - as it turns out, disabling Siri then re-pairing worked like a champ. I was then able to re-enable Siri and all appears to be working fine. I use Siri for initiating phone calls, texts and music (especially in the car).

For my streaming music solution, I just went with a Scosche FMTD9A FM Transmitter. I have the 2008 XK with Satellite Radio and In-Dash CD changer - but I apparently don't have the connectivity module. I thought with Bluetooth it would allow me to stream...ah well.
I'd much prefer it all be integrated...but this was a quick, cheap pathway to getting something acceptable and charges my phone at the same time.

Sorry but the new phones are just not compatible with the 2009 technology in my XK. I posted a while back as to how my friend's new iPhone intefears with the car's antiquated systems. We just can't lock the doors, or even start the car when the phone is in use. Maybe Sue and I will come out to your place, sometime and demonstrate it for you. We could use a road trip.

It sounds to me you have a bigger problem going on here. Have you tried the suggestion of others to shut off siri when you dock the phone. I have a Samsung android and have had 3 other android phones and they all link up. There shouldn't be any stray transmissions from any cell phone that would interfere with your cars systems.

and tell your friends to shut off their Bluetooth while riding with you, until the car learns to work with your phone
