Just picked up a 07 XK coupe...I ordered a switch and foun it...Hope that's all it is!

Does the HMSL on the spoiler light up? If not I'd look at the free wiring diagrams and see if there is a split brake switch. One side for the lamps and the other for the start enable. Free service manual also may have a good troubleshooting guide.

Always try to isolate the condition before shotgunning parts at it.
