Default oil leak

I had an oil change a few weeks ago and then started seeing oil drips on the ga. I took the car in this morning and it turned out to be the rear main seal. Does this seem odd for an 08 with 27000 miles?

On a side note the dealer provides loaners and I am now driving a shiny new......Toyota corolla

Hi Dan, where exactly was the oil leak? Was the seal replacement a sunstantial effort?

Shouldn't be happening...that's a defect in build most likely. Car is to young to have that problem from normal wear...

Yikes. How much did this cost to fix? How long have you had the car?

I'd be all over Jag to pay for this. Shouldn't happen and not normal for Jaguar.

It was covered under warranty and they had my car for two days.

Oddly enough I was rear ended in the Corolla about 3 miles from the dearlership too. Glad I wasn't in my jag or in an expensive loaner!

No more oil leaks either. It does seem odd that it happened to a 4 yr old car and they didn't say one way or the other as to the frequency of this problem.

Glad you're fixed now Dan. I should be going in with mine in a couple of weeks for further checks, but it quite likely it's a rear main seal. Will take up with Jag as it's quite embarassing for a 25k mile car to leak. Even though mine's just 4 years old!

Will post progress ...
