Outside temp. would have been nice
When I got an XF loaner I noticed that the outside temperature was shown on the center gauge screen . For some reason I guess I got used to this feature because it is always on in my Lexus. On the XK series we only see the outside temp. on the home screen of the infotainment unit. It would have been nice if this feature was on either all screens or in the gauge screen. Just an observation.
Sort of unrelated, but does anyone find that their "outside temperature" gauge is really inaccurate? In the summer mine seems to read 15 degrees over the actual outside temp, but my XKR is black so maybe it's getting a lot of heat from the sun.
More likely, its the radiated road surface temperature.
That would seem to make sense as well--where does it take the measurements from? I guess if I think of it as more of a road surface temperature reading, it's less irritating--probably more useful in a car than ambient air temp anyway!
I suspect it's in the middle of the lower opening, as I was drying the front bumper and around the splitter vane (07 XK), my finger ran into something. I must have loosened the connector, as I now periodically get a 0 degree reading for the outside temp, so I suspect the connection is loose.
