Default Picking up Jag tomorrow

Hi everyone, I’ve been reviewing many posts on this forum regarding the xk. Thanks for all the advice. I found a 2014 with only 8000 miles and in sweet condition. I pick it up tomorrow, Always wanted a Jaguar, and especially like the older 80’s models with round classic headlights. Was looking for a convertible and saw the xk, which was my first choice. Sooooo excited,,,, 😜 🐆🐆🐆.

Good news . if it is the supercharged version i suggest changing out the supercharged oil from the supercharger . Way to many on here skimp on this essential part of maintenance schedule . Every 5 years , or else it will be dark brow smelly gunk after 6 year . not be cumming of an enthusiast

Default Pictures!!!

Here she is!!! Very clean with 8k miles only! A few dings and scratches. So far drives great. Not the supercharged type. But thanks for the tip! Any other tips appreciated! Should I be ready to buy another battery? This one is probably the original. This was the most frequent issue with the xk I found on your forum.
Looking for a few accessories for it, weathertech mats, caliper covers (the ones on it are fairly rusty and ugly). Also would like a better cup holder, possibly upgraded steering wheel, etc... Any neat stuff out there???

Cool, man. How are the Soft-Touch buttons holding up? Most people find the buttons get gooey after awhile and need to have the coating removed.
As far as "Neat Stuff" out there, this thread is probably the best so far;

Replacement of HKS camp2

The best Product would be thejagwrangler.com remote control convertible top. That is a MUST-have. A large number of 'vert owners (like me) have this and LOVE it;

NEW!! '06 -'15, XK / XKR (X150) Convertible Top Remote Control - TheJagWrangler

Softtouch buttons? What are those? Everything is pretty new despite being a 2014. Thanks for the links, I’ll check them out.

Great looking XK! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine! Note that it is normal to look in your garage before going to sleep every night for several months!

Although our cars are 5 model years apart, our interiors are very similar, except that my wood veneer is Rich Oak. That's my aftermarket backup cam in my ashtray.

You'll have fun keeping your Ivory upholstery clean. I recommend Griot's 3-in-1 Spray, available on Amazon. It's fast, easy, and it works.
Amazon Amazon

I also recommend getting a battery maintainer and using it all the time, unless your XK is your daily driver. Many Forum members use the CTEK brand, also available on Amazon. I have the CTEK MUS4.3 on my XJ and recommend it.

+1 on the remote control top with the side window controls. Also add a rear wind deflector. With the top down, all windows up, and the rear deflector, the cabin is remarkably calm at 70mph.

I would repaint the calipers and apply new decals instead of using caliper covers.

I wouldn't change the steering wheel, but you can add aftermarket paddle shifter extensions as I did.

Another mod you might want is a footrest (dead pedal) cover. There are several alternatives, just search this Forum. Here's mine that I had made to match the OEM gas and brake pedal covers.

And you can dress up your engine compartment by having your Engine Appearance Cover hydrodipped in carbon fiber-look vinyl, as I did.

Puddle lights are an easy aftermarket mod. Here's mine:

And don't forget a front windshield sun screen, to keep the dash leather from bubbling in the summer sun. I use the OEM Jaguar shade because it fits perfectly and is sturdy. I added the Leaper logo in the center.

And just to mess with your passenger ...

I wouldn't do any engine performance mods and would enjoy your 385HP just the way it is. It's plenty fast, but if you have the need for speed, sell the XK and buy an XKR.

The road of life is short, so enjoy the ride!

When I saw this photo in my cardiologist's office 7 years ago I told him that he had macabre sense of humor. That picture spoke to me and said: "You've reached the end of the road." I wasn't ready then and I'm still not now.

Love the color combo. The original owner had taste, and apparently you do too! Welcome aboard!

+1 on all of the comments above, she is a beauty! If you have the 'soft touch' (steering wheel & window controls, etc.) buttons you'll know and there are threads you can research on how to deal with them.

Another thing to think about is coolant temp. The 5.0l can suffer from very quick over temps due to water pump failures. One would think the pump issue would be resolved by '14 MY but perhaps not too. My solution was to purchase an inexpensive Head Up display that connects to the OBDII connector and have it set to display coolant temperature. That way I know instantly what my temps are as I'm driving.

One other tid bit. After a drive, I park my car in the garage with the hood part way open and a floor fan pointed at it to relieve the engine bay heat.

Oh, and you may wish to visit some of the 'engine oil' threads concerning the 5.0 if you intend to DIY your oil changes.

BTW, they are really easy to do. I change my oil at <4K miles as a cheap insurance to longevity.

And lastly, on the issue of keeping the seats looking new. If you have never owned an XK you'll know it is a bit tight getting into the drivers seat. My wife taught me that the best way to keep the seat's side bolster from wearing & breaking down is to sit on the seat first (like a lady would) then rotate my legs in as i slide my butt into position. It works great and I've noticed no wear at all on my seat's side boster!

Cheers and enjoy your new ride!

Seat side bolster wear is just patina.

Beautiful ride; enjoy it. As for add-ons and accessories everything that Stuart said. Plus I would add the Mina Gallery exhaust system which is a replacement for the back box and adds quad tips. It drops the exhaust sound somewhat and adds a few horses. The url is www.minagallery.com They also have other accessory items that you may find of interest. Overall imo www.thejaguarwrangler.com remote top control with rear window control add-on is the best accessory for XK verts on the market.
You are in for many hours of enjoyment. Have fun!!
