Question Play in Seat

No, not that kind of play....

The seats as if there is a hint of play front and back on the driver's seat. What do I do to tighten it down? Can it be tighten or is it my imagination?

As long as the 4 mount bolts are tight, there will always be soem play. It has to have some or the gear train and mechanism would bind

Should be no play in the seats.............As the mech is constantly under tension.. May be some loose squab to cushion bolts or worn gears.......... Pain in the but to get to the bolts though..... What type of seats do you have?? How old is your car buddy??

Ah ok....... I contract at Lear currently in the UK who make the seats for Jag....... Nice seats btw!!!! They are the perforated premium leather seats with bolster adjust then....... Um there should be no movement in the cushion either....... Worst case it's again worn drive gears........ Best case the bolts to the cushion pan are loose and just need tightening. Hard to check with seat in vehicle so best to have it out and take a look....... If you could post a video it would help buddy.

Assuming it is the best case, I don't think it is worn gear, what now? Can I tighten the cushion pan bolts easily?

On mine it was one of the front seat rail to floorpan bolts. The other three were tight. The seat felt like it was rocking every time speed changed.

Theyre not bad moses, but like he said you have to remove the seat. 4 bolts a few connectors and leave the seat belt attached. Just dont twist the seat around while out or youll twist the seat belt. You can see and access the lower seat mounts underneath with the seat upside down. You may have to move a couple trim pieces. Or wiring. I know by seeing

Yes he still has the car that's why I woke up the thread
and yes I removed the seat, checked all bolts.
The culprit is the track itself. Not sure if it is part of the British design and need to live with it or could be amended

OK consider replacing it then, make a call to the dealer tomorrow and get a price/part no, then google if there are any available

Like this for example:

No. The car had the play right up until I traded her in on an Evora. Was really frustrating and made the trade-in even better as there was no way I would've owned the car for long time with that play in the seat.

At an eighth of the price new it's worth taking a gamble, even if it's as worn you have spare to play with/weld/file/fettle
