I actually saw a couple of XK's with the hood ornament leaper last time I was in Raleigh, NC.

 

Not bad. Would like to see a slightly smaller version....what s the length on that emblem?

Cant even imagine a leaper ornament on the hood... yuck....

Several of us have put the leaper on the back...

A few of us have also put an "R" on the front right of the grill like the newer XKR...

 

To some of us "old school" guys a Jag W/O the Leaper is not quite "there". I recall putting one on the hood of my XJS back in the day. I have never had the urge to put one on an XK, however.

If you really want to go old school, how about Jag "wings". It used to be that Jags up thru the Series 1 XJ6 had a wing logo around the trunk lock. Some of us could not imagine a Jag of subsequent years without the wings and took corrective measures. This really dates me. As an aside, I have never understood the strong objection the outside radio Ariel on the 07 XKs.

The recent Hyundai Genesis was introduced W/O the Hyundai "wing" logo. Owners raised so much hell about it that the dealers started to install wings themselves.

The mkt for auto personalization lives. Long may it prosper.

 

Had to laugh there, as my 15 yr old son hates it, yet like you, I really don't find it terribly annoying...
If I could choose, I would obviously wish it was gone, but I've been driving for 38+ years now, and have had so many cars with Ariels in my life that I simply don't notice it. (I will admit that I plan on putting a switch on it, as I do not listen to Radio often)

Didn't mean to offend any XK owners with hood ornaments, I just love the slick lines of the front end so much on my car that a the thought of breaking it up with something standing off of it makes me shudder. peace Vince

 

I thought you put the leaper on the hood when I first saw your topic on the forum's page lol

 

The ariel (arial?) ... antenna, doesn't bother me at all. When I'm in the car I can't see it, and when I am not in the car it is retracted.

 

I made a magnetic leaper for my wife's XK8 hood, for static display only; looks great! Put a rear leaper licence plate holder on the XK.............it looks appropriate !
Not going to touch the radio antenna; it also seems appropriate for a Jaguar..............
