Default Question to WhiteXKR

On your gauge integration on the earlier car it looks like a super installation. I was wondering after looking at the F-type if they used similar SW or hardware to the Late model XK series. If you look at the F-type info screen on the instrument pod you see the water temperature gauge on one side (vertical) and the fuel gauge on the right (vertical) . It makes me wonder if this can be done on the XK info screen buy changing the screen hardware and making a code modification to show the info. My other thoughts were can you run video on the nav. screen and if so can you use the ipod connection to show the BT gauge data from the ELM connector on the nav screen. Just some sky blue thinking here and I realize with money you can do just about anything .

Making code modifications on proprietary systems without access to source code or hardware designs is exceedingly difficult. IMO, an add-on integration is the best way to accomplish this.

You can have access to the video screen when you select navigation with a commercially available GVIF interface module (Jaguar GVIF Video Interface - TVandNav2Go). You will lose some resolution because this unit takes an analog video input, and unfortunately will not take a hidef HDMI signal directly.

You can use a phone as a video source with and ELM327, but a far better option to get gauges that are not available on OBDII (such as oil pressure, boost, etc) is to use one of the variants of this system that allows add-on sensors (see the iMFD products): PLX Kiwi 2 Wifi | OBD2 OBDII iPhone

Cool and great info. I don't have an iphone or ipad but was just asking if you could go through their inputs. The video interface was good also . I will most likely go with the ELMand a Samsung 7" tablet with one of the engine type apps like Torque pro. Thanks for the info.
