Default Radio activation code

Hi,

Having just upgraded from a 2004 XKR to a 2008 XKR & checking through all the paperwork & documents I suddenly realised I have no code to reactivate the radio after battery disconnection as I did with my previous X100.

I can find no mention of it in the handbook so do I need one in the UK, if so how do I go about getting it.

Thanks for your assistance.

Mine doesn't have one. Jaguar have finally stopped this stupidity with European specification vehicles.

With the infotainment system you don't need a code.

Quite right. The code was only there to deter theft. With these cars theft isn't a likelihood. Or really even possible without taking the whole car.

Default Radio Code - 2011 Jaguar XK Convertible

Can someone please confirm whether or not a 2011 Jaguar XK Convertible has a radio code?

None of the X150 models use Keycode radios.

ACTUALLY, isn't the .... I'm guessing here, the TSD is the display FOR the 'radio', but isn't it controlled by something else? Wouldn't that 'sound module' or whatever have a VIN in the firmware? I don't know, so I ask. Course if the TSD actually IS the sound system, I guess there isn't any code. I've never thought about it before.

I am sure that if a new radio/display were installed it would have to be coded to the car using suitable ODB software. However, there is no radio code so the existing unit can be removed and reinstalled without knowledge of any code, unlike a keycode radio.

I thought I'd made it clear in post #2 seven years ago but I'll repeat that the X150 audio system does NOT have a radio security code for owner input after a battery disconnect/reconnect.

Any consideration of programming replacement components for compatabilty is a completely different topic not relevant to the theft deterrent purpose of radio security codes.

I remember seeing your previous post about the X150. I wasn’t aware the X150 and the XK were the same. That is why I asked my question specific to the XK. My mistake. Although I didn’t mention it in my question, I wasn’t concerned about needing a radio code in the event of radio replacement or theft. That's a different topic.
I was concerned about needing a radio code in the case of power interruption when replacing the battery.

I am planning on using a NOCO Genius 10 in 12v supply mode (not charge mode) to supply power to the car during the battery change. Either that or I will use another battery to power the car.
Thank you for the clarification.

Worth a slight diversion from the topic to explain this model naming convention.

X150 is the Factory Code for the 2006-2014 XK model.

We use the Factory Codes on the forum to distinguish between similar named models. For example, XKR could be the earlier steel bodied 1996-2006 XKR (Factory Code X100) or the later aluminium bodied 2006-2014 XKR model.

The XJ badge is even more confusing with five different models produced between 1968 and 2019!
