Default radio antenna

Hi everybody

i'm in this forum and an recent XKR 2007 owner. So at this moment i'm fixing some minor issues and at same time discovering the car.
anyone can tell me why my radio antenna doesn't close all after car stop. Antenna still open ( mast, chrome part still out about 15 cm) after car power shutdown.

Any ideas..can be an malfunction?

Thanks

Failure of the antenna mast either to retract or extend fully is almost always caused by dirt on the mast. Extend the mast electrically, and clean it, wiping upwards (!) and then apply silicone spray lubricant (sprayed on a cloth, wiped *upward* on the mast. This process should be done at least twice a year.

Unfortunately, even after cleaning the antenna and lubricating, part of the mast remains outside. It must be a malfunction

Or deposits on the base. Lightly help it up, clean and lubricate, then lightly help it down.
follow the other thread to disassemble and reassemble... mine is original. No problems to date.

correct...as the mechanism is raising and lowering the mast, you gently help it rise by pulling up and as it lowers you gently push it down...this takes two people, one to turn the radio on and off and one to do the therapy!
I have fixed this issue on many electric aerials in this way. The segments get "frozen" by dirt and corrosion. Once you break the adhesion and properly lubricate the segments it will extend and retract propery. These aerials, properly cleaned and libricated periodically, last for decades.

Paulo, this may or may not solve the problem permanently. I continued to have an issue with the mast not withdrawing completely after many efforts to clean and lubricate it. The mast would act properly for a day or so after the clean/lube and then stop fully withdrawing again. I finally pulled fuse #4, which powers the antenna motor (fuse is located in the panel between the back seats), since I don't listen to the radio in the car, just stream music from my phone.
