Default Really odd wire I found and wonder what modification it could be part of...RESOLVED

I found an RJ45 (two wire) jack sticking out from in front of the leading edge of my headliner (at the windshield). I haven't followed it to wherever it leads, but wonder if anyone would know what that might be a part of or what modification (assuming that is the use) it was used for. I have a microphone in the a-pillar...but I would guess that is already wired?

Thanks in advance.

TWO-wire RJ45??? What's in the other six slots?
Maybe just used as a power wire for a Radar Detector or a Dash Camera?

Power cord for a radar detector. I made the same cord and put it in my truck. Very handy for moving the unit from vehicle to vehicle.

Thanks Cee Jay and fxdwg - that is probably what it is. I don't want to pull it out yet. I may want an onboard full-time camera at some point.

Go to the closest fuse box and see if you see the same 2 wires there. Then you'll at least know +/-.

...and there is no two wire standard that uses RJ45 connectors, at least to my knowledge. but!

1) you can pull just two wires through RJ45 to use PoE and ignore the data lines if you want! could be some eccentric systems designer or a DIY solution for a camera
2) mixing up the two connectors is incredibly common even if that weren't it, as they are virtually identical looking. wouldn't blame OP at all for that.

or do you mean RJ-11. None the less, I propose its part of the self destruct system.

Default Radar detector wire

I have an Escort radar detector that uses an RJ45 or RJ11 connector for power. Very convenient for windscreen mounted unit just below the rear view mirror.

Thanks all - it is definitely a two-wire connector. RJ-11 or RJ-45...not sure if I could tell the difference so let's assume nomenclature is wrong in my original post.

Update and thread-closure.

Wire was spliced into a fused power source in the driver's kick panel. I ripped it all out of there.

Whatever it powered up is no longer on the car.

Thanks to all who provided feedback.
