Next project… I bought a carbon fiber rear diffuser from Chris at Mina about 6 years back. I’m just getting around to finally mounting it. The factory diffuser has tabs on the back side that slide into the rear bumper which has corresponding slits/cut outs. Mine does NOT have these attachment tabs. Chris initially suggested using 3M double sided automotive tape. This does not seem sturdy nor permanent. Any collective ideas on how to get this accomplished?

Although not factory part, all the mounting points line up. Minor fitting is needed

 

Bumper cover off and off to fitment and paint of rear ground effects end pieces and complete bumper

Slow progress… used panel bond to attach end pieces to rear bumper.

 

Takes 48 hrs for the panel bond to cure. Then prep for paint and re install bumper

 

Now cured, prep for paint now….sand sand sand.

 

Sanding and primer done

 

Prep for painting done. Will spray on Monday and reassemble Tuesday if all goes as planned

As and old paint and body man, what type paint will you be using on the bumper? Flex additive or...?

I using PPG paint with flex additive then clear coat.

i have a 2013 -RS with the carbon diffuser. I was looking at removing it and refurbishing the clear coat that has delaminated and has a few chips etc. Looks to be a PITA to remove. Riveted on in places. My guess is the rear bumper has to come off just to remove it.
