Default Rearview Camera options

Hello all....newbie here. I'm looking to replace the factory rearview mirror with one with a camera. 2010 XKR.

Any suggestions on a good camera/mirror combo that looks good in the cockpit? Don't want one of those large 10" mirrors. Thanks.
PS: I love the XKR.

Get a stock(type) rear camera and hook it to the TSD and have someone activate it for you through a hacked SDD.
Others will say to buy that Costco solar unit and put the screen in the ashtray area.
Me, I don't like clutter.

I like my Costco unit (Type S wireless solar powered backup camera) because it was inexpensive, super easy to install in 5 minutes, and the 5" display fits perfectly in the ashtray. I've had it for around 2 years with no problems.

Costco no longer sell the model with the 5" display, but a brand new one is available on Ebay.

UKWyldcat and Stuart S, your two Jags are some of the most beautiful I've seen... Stuart S interior is for sure the most beautiful I've seen.

What about the rear-view camera systems that replace your rear view mirror? I think they're universal?

Rear view mirror backup cameras are cool, but you lose some of the integrated options. Auto-dim all mirrors is the one that comes to mind first.
If there was a way to get those options on an aftermarket mirror, they'd be a total Win.

I did the rear view mirror camera...looks almost like OEM, has auto-dim. I don’t notice the loss of auto dim on the outside mirrors.

The brand is Rydeen. I installed it last year and bought previous year stock so it’s a couple of years old... I don’t think they change much...

Does the 5” camera move around in the ashtray? Looks great.

Where is the power cord running? Into the cigarette lighter (ashtray) or hardwired?

No, it's a fairly snug fit. I thought about using a little double-sided tape, but it's not necessary.

Another point is that the 5" display completely hides the power cord and plug that fits in the cigarette lighter socket, so the display looks like it was built into the console.

It's not perfect, but for the cost it exceeded my expectations.

Because the cigarette lighter socket is switched (it turns off when you stop the engine and lock the doors), I leave it plugged in unless I'm parked where it might get stolen, as it looks like a cellphone when off. It's simple to unplug and stow in the glovebox or under the center armrest.

Interesting solution. Does it wake up when it detects movement inside the car? Does it stay on when your driving? Thanks in advance.

Convenience Mode is activated when the doors are unlocked, either with the Smartkey fob or by pulling the door handle. That sends power to the cigarette lighter and turns on the display unit in the ashtray. It stays on until it times out in a minute or so, but you can turn it back on simply by swiping your fingers across the screen. It doesn't stay on when you're driving unless you want it to; just swipe your fingers across the screen.

I thought you might want to read the Owner's Manual:

Costco apparently still sells the original version with the 5" display that fits in the ashtray for $124.99 delivered.

Costco also has the newer 6.8" widescreen version on sale now through December 20 for $50 off, or $119.99 delivered.
