Default Remove headlight from XKR-S 2012

Anyone knows how to remove the headlamp on a xkr-s 2012?

In this particular model, there's not a third bolt in the wheel well (I can't see it if there's one), so I removed the 2 other one. I disconnected the washer hose but I can't remove the headlamp from the hole. I can move the unit but the front bumper is in the way to remove the headlamp completely. The black fake vent blocks the way ... Do I need to remove the front bumper? I have the service XK150 manual ... but it seems it doesn't apply to the XKR-S bumper. It's different.

There is a 3rd bolt with 10mm head in the wheel arch lining, and yes removing the front bumper is going to make it easier to get the light assembly out without damaging anything.

For those interested ... here is the procedure. Not very easy to change a bulb!

Geez, why do we own these cars? My 64.5 Mustang is such a blessing to work on. Yes, and being modified, it's fun too!

I literally just posted a question on this. There is a bolt behind the wheel well liner and then I had to loosen the bolts on the top of the front fender to make enough room to slide the headlight out but without taking the bolts to the fender on the front above the radiator and the top corner behind the wheel well

I wish I had checked this forum before I started this project yesterday morning on my 2012. Plan was to swap out the bulb, wash the car, and take a long drive to somewhere not fogged in. Easy - peasy based on a 2010 MY Service Manual. When I discovered that the rear headlamp retaining bolt could not he accessed through the wheel arch liner, that should have been a clue. But after loosening the three retaining bolts I persisted in attempting to wiggle the lamp housing free of the bodywork for four solid hours, assuming it was like a puzzle- there was only one sequence of twists, turns, and tilts that would free up the housing. Wrong. Finally, I ran to the Forum, found this post, and went through the proper procedure. Not fun, with all four wheels on the ground. Finally had her buttoned up as the sun was going down. Problem is I have three fasteners left over, but I am sure I can find homes for when the sun comes up today.
Summary- the 2012s (US), and assumedly later cars require that the wheel arch liner be peeled back and the front bumper cover be well- loosened ( or removed) to extract the headlight. The bulb retaining band in the housing is different- its a friction fit clip rather than a locking band. Don't waste time looking for the release tabs, as I did. On my car, the hose identified in the earlier manuals as feeding the head light washer is not connected to the lamp housing, but is connected somewhere else under the lamp, and need not be disconnected. So you can avoid lying in the puddle of water while loosening the splash shield.
So - thanks for guidance, Gents. Note to self - check the Forum before opening the Service Manual.

Hi,

@kicknhard

I appreciate its quite an old thread...
What is the workshop manual that the screen grabs come from, and where can I get one ?
I searched for an online available one - found a free one that wasn't quite right, and then found a second one that claimed to be for models upto and include 2014 - and its not :-/

My Vin is 51753

I am swapping the headlights from UK to Europe and have the same issue... a wobbly light that still doesn't want to come out...
I will drop the front spoiler / bumper this weekend !

Thanks

And
