Default repaired trunk release button

My trunk release button became loose because the two tiny screws fastening it to the plastic "chrome" plate broke off. It had rattled for several years before. It looks as though there was a supporting piece missing form the two flanges attached to the switch. Has anybody had this problem and found the same thing?

I have never heard of this problem, but it's making me dread the day when this actually happens to me!

Jeff, what year and model do you have? (XK, XKR, XKR-S, Portfolio, etc)
It would be MUCH easier to get the help you need (or to help others) if people know what you drive.
Go to your Control Panel (User CP) near the upper right corner and add a signature!
