replaced my decorative fasteners on my newly powder coated wheels
This is an overview of replacing the decorative fasteners on the Kalimnos & Senta 20” aluminum alloy wheels. I decided to have the 4 wheels powder coated in gloss black because they were curbed and scratched and I didn’t want a wheel shop using an impact gun to remove or install these bolts. 2 bolts were missing. The original bolts have a very unique head shape and thread size. There laser etched “C.D.W.” and are an M7x1.0 thread size. Triple square m4 engagement. 12mm thread length. Its easier to remove them when the wheel is on the car. I think these bolts were removed once in the past-some of the bolts had silicone on the threads. Some of the bolts were very tough to remove. If you need new bolts they are not available at Home Depot or McMaster Carr. I searched all over the planet and the only company that supplies these are in the UK and there called Jasengine ltd. I am not affiliated with them. They are made from titanium and are expensive. Dimensionally there are identical to the original. I think they could have gotten away with making them from stainless steel. $8 each plus shipping and VAT. I also requested they use black wheel weights when they balance them. When I got the wheels back, I cleaned out the threads using a tap and some 3 in 1 oil. Then I cleaned the threads of each bolt using a pipe cleaner style wire brush and sprayed compressed air to get rid of any small fragments. The bolts don’t need to be overtightened. The wheels are aluminum, and you could strip them out. They just need to be snug. They are just decorative and serve no functional purpose. The cost of powder coating the 4 wheels including balancing was $700. 3 of the wheels needed to be straightened.. that was an additional $150. The wheels look incredible now.. Hope this write up helps someone. cleaning out threads pipe brush to get all the chips out and then compressed air back of the finished wheel all done. wheel looks like new
This is one reason I've never wanted Decorations on my wheels. On any car. Miserable to keep clean and a debacle when they are damaged. Good job making the best of yours though. Vast improvement.
update: I needed to purchase 2 bolts and the company in UK said they "since the introduction of tariffs in the USA we cannot reliably ship there. The items either get held up in customs so long that we have to refund the money or they get returned to us as rejected. If we ship it fed ex and prepay the tariff it would be a way around this but the total cost for the 2 bolts plus shipping would be $43"
unbelievable.....

from my experience, when I have my wheels straightened and coated I pull the bolts (senta wheels) and polish the heads with a hs buffing wheel. The come out looking great...then after around 1~2 k miles of driving (I use the car daily) they are simply nice looking. I dare say that if you fill the two voids with polished oem (stainless) bolts no one, even you will see the difference after a short while. and who knows, maybe the tariffs will go poof or you'll find a way to get those two titanium ones.
