Shock absorbers part numbers
Hi,
Today I inquired at Jaguar Classic in order to get information about the correct part for my 2010 XKR.
The parts diagram show 2 references : C2P17674 (purple dot) with VIN numbers that match mine, and C2P22057 with no VIN number.
I'm sure all the dampers mechanically fit, but my question is about the CATS system.
Does anybody know if both are ok, and what would be the difference between the différent part numbers?
Dampening force, CATS compatibility?
I read that even XKR-S dampers are compatible, but how well the CATS system handles them?
I ask cause the purple dot parts are becoming hard to find, and if that's the only part number that fits, I'd need to stock a set as it's still possible to find one.
Thanks!

Ok, so no go for XKR-S dampers.
Jaguar classic answered me I need the purple dot ones, but couldn't explain / were not allowed to say if other references could fit and what are the differences between them.
It's strange because the "purple" or "green" are VIN dependent, but the C2P22057 are supposed to fit any XKR 5.0.
Looks like we'll never know if there is any difference between them...

Ah yes, that makes sense. Only the springs seem different between XK and XKR.
Although, by making a cross reference part numbers check, they don't look color coded like the dampers, they fit every VIN and never been superseeded. Even the damping control module references don't show a match with the dampers.
Looks like from one point (B41277), NA and SC versions dampers differed: the green line was dedicated to the NA, and the SC had a new part number (C2P22812 and C2P22813 from VIN B41713 for the SC, at the rear... For the front, no VIN reference...).
I think all these parts fit the cars, but there is probably a difference. Maybe the dampening force? That would be interesting to know for fitting the best part according to our needs.

Rear dampers were replaced with the C2P22569 P/N, and I can confirm that they are the correct ones for my 2011 XKR 175 (5.0 S/C). Resistance tested at about 2.5 ohms on both dampers, which is correct for the ACDM-based Adaptive Dynamics.
I'm waiting for the front dampers (C2P17670) to come in to validate their fitment.
I'd say that the TL;DR at this point is that if you own a 2010+ Jaguar XKR (can't speak definitively to the XK), Bilstein doesn't make off-the-shelf dampers that fit our cars - you'll need genuine Jaguar parts (C2Pxxxxx P/N's) or OEM equivalents.
