mine were brand new and the right frequency so I checked it first. you cannot use second hand keys as they will be nothing more than paper weights

I'll be following with interest as getting a second fob and blade key is turning into a PIA for me Pittsburgh, the dealers I have contacted give me a run around about getting a code to cut the key, but No Locksmith I've talked to will touch it anyway, code or no code and the (St)dealer wants $500 + for a key and fob to be ordered from GB. I can't even get a clear answer if that is for both a key and a fob plus programing or just a key and fob... one dealer said they can no longer program a fob for this car. I tried contacting Jaguar USA and they have not responded either. Seem my car will be bricked if I lose or for some reason the fob dies!

Doesn’t sound like much of a dealer. Even a competent Inde shop should be able to help you.

Both my dealer and my Inde shop have done this work fir me, in the last year.

So, I found Auto Keys Now, a locksmith in Clear Lake, Texas that made a new key and programmed it to work for remote access and starting and for docking for $249.

Heck, the 'local' Jaguar dealer near me (yeah, near) doesn't even have SDD anymore. Indy locksmiths have no idea even what SDD could mean. Solid DIP diode???

Thanks for the tip. I found a local locksmith who cut and programmed a new one for me for $249, and it docks properly!

I saw on a podcast, how to use your smart keys to have the car give up the code of the keys via the dash, on Ford products. I will try the technique in the near future, on my 2007 because of its Ford heritage..

I use a Foxwell NT710 diagnostic scanner for all of my cars. The Jaguar/Land Rover software on it includes a routine to add a new smart key. I used it last week to add a one to my 2010 XK, and it worked fine. You just have to make sure you have the right key for your model.

2007 MODEL YEAR OWNERS ONLY

Note that early 2007 X150 models used a single-channel Smartkey and later models all used multi-channel Smartkeys. Unfortunately, they're not interchangeable. For details, including VIN change, see:

If this information would be amplified I predict a rush on the NT710 by Jag owners. This tool and blanks are many times less expensive than dealer/ lock smith pricing...plus do it at home.

Right? I bought an AUTEL so I didn't have to hook up SDD to recalibrate the PAX seat. Don't know HOW it worked or what I did right, but the AUTEL did the job.
