Default Steering Colum Noise

2012 XKR convertible. On start up when the steering Colum moves into place there is a noise much like rubber rubbing. Any thoughts on what this is?

Thanks

It is probably a rubber baffle and doesn't hurt anything but I don't think this should be considered "normal"

There's a sort-of buzz sound when the steering lock disengages.

I had the same problem on my 12 vert about 18 months ago. The dealer replaced the steering column under warranty. If your car is still under warranty (which it should be) get to a different dealer and see what they say.

Have the same issue. Little rub when powering up and steering adjusting. I'm investigating shortly, a little lithium grease or graphite should do the trick. I'll let you know what I discover.

I agree I wouldn't consider it normal on this 'quality' of car but I've added it to my list disappointments with Jaguar. I'm afraid I see it in the brand new loaners as well just little things that disappoint.
