Default Sunscreen - OE and the OE Supplier

As I was heading to sun and high temperatures, I was very concerned by the number of posts from US members about dash leather lifting with the heat.

The XK sunscreen P/N C2P23639 is unobtainable through UK Jaguar Dealers and a search of mainland European Dealers in France, Spain, Italy and Germany also came up zero.

I eventually found one stocked by Jaguar Columbia in South Carolina at $61.40 and had it shipped to the UK. Shipping and import charges added almost 50% to the cost.

The sunscreen is made in eight panels and folds for carrying in the supplied plastic cover. Naturally a perfect fit - unfold inside the vehicle, lift up against the glass and secure by lowering the sunvisors. It has effectively kept the interior cool even with temperature in the 90's.

The instruction leaflet shows the sunscreen is manufactured by Covercraft Industries LLC in the US:

http://www.covercraft.com/us/en/shop...xk/sunscreens/

Covercraft list two options for the XK. The UVS100 ($61) which is the OE pattern and a lower cost Flex Shade rollup type at $44.

Nice!

I bought one of the "genuine" ones for the Land Rover since it was spending a lot of time outside. Probably from the same manufacturer.

Only helps if you use it though, the dash still split on that car, someone kept forgetting to put it up...

I have the same one from the same source. Might need to add a R decal to it but otherwise it does work well.

Also, just slide it down between the dash and glass and it'll stay in place without the risk of the visors getting loose over time.

Yep, got that same genuine article too. When folded it fits nicely (verticle) behind my seat, just enough gap between my seat back and the rear seat for it. Had it about three years, still looks good.

I use a similar sunscreen. It fits between the front and back seats when not in use and I am able to properly deploy it with;out leaving the drive's seat. Very handy and does the job.

Never thought of storing it like that. I don't get enough sun experience.

Yeah, I'm not sure where the little black bag ended up but the screen never made it back in.

I thought about the //R logo, and decided to use the Leaper. Here's mine, also made by Covercraft. And no, I don't use it when parked in my garage. I just put it up for this photo.

I bought the logo sticker on Ebay. It's available in various sizes and colors. Just search for Jaguar Leaper logo decal sticker.

I got mine on ebay, came with a case/sleeve to store it in, for about $50.

Me, too, for $47 delivered but the price has gone up.

Alternatively, you can buy this one for $40 and add the logo if you need it. It looks similar to the OEM Jaguar shade but is thinner.
