Default Supercharger Sensor Fault or not....

Hi guys,

Recently my 2007 XKR started to run a little off after running almost empty on petrol, the check engine light came on, sometimes between 1,000rpm and 2,000 rpm there seems to be a loss of power now and again, if i press the accelerator harder it wakes up back to normal, there have been times it struggled to start first time, and once or twice it's idling high for a min then it'll go back to normal.
I took it to a garage that said the code says it's the supercharger sensor causing the check light and the part isn't expensive, but it's located in a tough spot and they will have to remove the engine and all sorts ($$$) to replace the sensor, but i don't see how that would effect it while it's idling etc, a friend said maybe from running low on fuel the filter got blocked, so i replaced the fuel filter but it still it feels laggy.

Has anyone else had the supercharger sensor fault? and if so was the car running similar to what i mentioned? or is there anything else i can try having cleaned or replaced incase there is a blockage from running low on fuel, orrrr are these most likely 2 completely different problems? i'm kinda lost as to what steps to take.

Any advice or opinions would be great.

Thanks

WTF is a "Supercharger Sensor"???
If you were low on fuel, your fuel filter may have gotten fouled with the dirty crap from the bottom of your fuel tank.
$20 and half an hour.

He has changed the fuel filter.
You need to read the whole thread before answering!
I would pour a can of injector cleaner in the fueltank and see if that helps.
Also ask the garage for the code and post it here, will be easier to help you.

The fuel pickup is on the floor of the tank so unlikely any “gunk” would wait to get sucked up.

I believe I’ve seen this same thing happen to other members, so might do a search. But I agree on getting the proper DTC.

The car likely has an IAT2. I'm doubtful it is the cause but have a hunt for codes, unset OBD monitors, and use OBD to check sensors etc for plausible (or not!) values.

Buy yourself a cheap code reader & read the code yourself
