Tail light issues
Hello Jaguar hivemind,
I am currently having an issue where 2 out of the 3 light bulbs in the right tail light are not working. The bulbs are ok. It appears that there is no power coming through 2 of the wires. I went through the fuse boxes and can not figure out which of the fuses would be controlling these to rule out that it is the fuse being wrong. Could someone please help me identify which fuses control the rear lights?
In addition, I am thinking about taking the power from the working bulb and spreading it to the other 2 bulbs which should solve the practical light issue but will probably mean that the error on the dashboard will remain.
How would you proceed with troubleshooting this issue? All bulbs work and the wiring in the lamp assembly is ok. I measured the lamp connector and 2 wires are just not getting any juice leading to the 2 bulbs not being functional.
Thank you all in advance,

Pg 75 of the owner’s manual will lay out the rear lights. Specifically, which lights are not working?
If you look to the workshop manual, you may find that the electronic circuitry for the lights is much more involved than the simple fuse/switch solutions of the past. There is a clear description of the Central Junction Box and the Auxillary Junction Box, therein.
Frankly, I find the layout and description clearer in the Workshop Manual as opposed to the Owner’s Manual.
But we need to know which lights are not working…

So, your right taillight is not working ...
Are you aware that the 4.2L X150 models have only one backup light? Although the taillights appear to be identical (mirror images) on both sides, the round light on the passenger side is the backup light. The round light on the driver's side is a fog light, which is activated by a switch on the lower dashboard.
If the car is not in reverse, there's no power to the backup light. And there's no power to the fog light if the switch is not pressed.
You're in the UK, so your right taillight includes the fog light. That won't have power unless you press the switch to turn it on.
The first thing to do is read the Owner's Handbook.

Hello and thank you for your response.
I found it actually on page 59 of the handbook I have. The rear light has 4 lights written down.(it is the the light assembly that is in the body of the car, not the tail doors) for me light 3 (Stop and Tail) and light 4 (tail) do not work. For light 3 it is only the tail light that does not work, the brake works ok.
Also thanks for pointing out that its not just simply fuse. I will go read the workshop manual.

if I may propose…
1. put it all back together
2. perform a reset.
a. disconnect battery, place on a charger.
b touch the leads of the car together, keeping the battery out of way
c reconnect the battery that reads 12.6v
d with foot off brake, press and release start button
e once all chimes and bells finish, depress and hold start button
f step on brake to start car.
g. go enjoy a drive. a combination of highway and urban roads.
I think this reset to factory settings could possibly enable your lighting.
