Ouch , to bad. I would look to the dealer 1st to see if they have someone who does their glass work. I would like to know how you make out here . Also is it heated or the standard glass. Good luck

Sorry to hear Lothar, however, on my 2002 XKR I had two windshields replaced in 4 days. Hit by rocks. I used Safelite.

When I needed a new windshield for my wife's S-Class I found out that my dealer is not approved by insurance. As the windshield for that car is not generally available (dealer item) and I live "in the country" they sent me to Abra. Really impressed, the tech met me in a WalMart parking lot and knew exactly what to do. Seems they do a lot of "high end" cars. But when making the appointment, I would ask for a tech with experience dealing with these cars.

is the windshield a factory piece? I would not accept anything but oem. once you have it replaced, get it covered with windshield clear protective film so you will not have any small chips hence. windshields with chips no matter how small drive me nuts.

always go with factory, some cars have the satellite antenna in the front windshield, won't have reception with an aftermarket windshield.

When my '06 XJR got stoned, the only option was an OEM unit. No aftermarket available, probably the volume is too low. Insurance covered the $1600 bill.

Mine got cracked the day after I bought it - went out for an early Sunday B-road blast, was playing tag-along with some bloke who clearly knew the road well and was really flying. Unfortunately, he slightly clipped the verge on an apex and threw up a stone big enough to crack the screen. Replacement was paid by insurance (less £75 excess) and done by an Autoglass mobile fitter right outside the house; no fuss, no mess, no leaks.

Jag has a TSB regarding possible manufacturing defects.

I would have it done at the dealership even if a 3rd party is doing the work. Who knows what could happen and at least that saves you driving to the dealer regardless.

Maybe you'll get to tool around in Jag's newest offerings while you wait?
