Angry Top Hydraulics

Does anyone have experience replacing the main lift cylinder on the X150 convertible? I have a 2007 XKR and the left side lift cylinder ruptured. There appears to be a clearance issue when I try to remove the pin at the base of the cylinder and I am reluctant to loosen any mounting bolts on the hinge. next challenge will be the hydraulic lines, but at the moment I am stuck removing the pin after I remove the C clip.

TopHydraulics did a YouTube video on replacing the cylinders on a 07 XK.

i reaches out to them when one of them failed a few months ago. They were very helpful - didn’t have the video up yet, but I would def go that route next time.

Smile Thanks for the video

Thanks for the video. This helped a lot, but stopped short of where I am having a problem. However, now that I know there is someone at TopHydraulics that has done this, I can call and ask a specific question in the morning.
Thanks again.

I can vouch for TopHydraulics, I have dealt with them extensively when I had my SL. Now, thankfully, my car has all-electric top.

My last car had an all electric top (98 BMW 328i). 3 electric motors. 8 microswitches. A computer module just for the top. Bungee straps that the elastic went out on. Gear teeth not meshing, or wearing out. The top on my BMW was always a problem. I have replaced all three motors and the bungees and had countless problems over the years.

I am thankful that this car has a hydraulic top, which so far has worked flawlessly!

Default Talked to TopHydraulics

I talked to TopHydraulics and they confirmed the need to lift the top hinges to provide adequate clearance for removing the pins on the lift cylinder. I will try to do this over the weekend when I have another set of hands available and possibly video the process for supplementing the one from TopHydraulics.
