Default Unusual clicking from left front

2008 xkr. I had a left front wheel bearing going out with the usual moaning. Early this week when making a right turn at moderate speed, it made a loud crunching- clicking sound from that same front side. I figured that was the wheel bearing announcing its desire to be replaced, which I did today.
That took care of the moaning, but in a vigorous right turn I still have the crunching- clicking sound, and it is loud! Any normal right turn elicits no noise. Left turns are dead quiet.
I'll investigate more tomorrow, but would love to hear what anyone else has to say.

It might be something like a brake disc shield which is running too close to the disk and is pushed over in tight turns until it touches the disk. They do make a terrible noise. Check all around the front end for shiny abrasion marks.

Putting closure to this. The clicking that I was attributing to suspension was actually failed engine mounts.
During cornering, the engine was healing over and allowing the AC compressor pulley to contact the subframe.

All fixed now!

mhminnich,
I'm curious, how many miles do you have on the car?
Thanks,
Mizzleman

Wow, engine mounts failing...never heard of anything like that in any other car I've owned!
What does not fail in this car, actually?

Cars with power are much harder on engine mounts than Toyota Camrys. It's physics.

Only things failed on mine in it’s lifetime of 14 years are suspension bushes, trans mount bush, differential bushes, subframe bushes, turn signal stalk, one AFS module, heat function on steering, glove box soft open spring, suede trim and that’s it. I’d say that’s pretty good. Same for the 2005 X350 Daimler (Suoer V8), 2003 X100 convertible and 2008 X150 N/A convertible. Wish I could say the same for all the Rovers I’ve owned…..

Thanks. I have the same car and was interested to know when I have look forward to that. Luckily, I hope (knock on wood), it will be a while.
I purchased it back in April with 25k miles on it.
Thanks again,
Mizzleman
